Worrying lack of a brain when in a good position. You hold out hope because he's young but he's so wasteful.
His crossing is horrendous.

Not sure if anyone noticed, but he was a big part of our creative play in the 1st half. There was one particular move where he side stepped thru 3 of their players by slowing down. He had little support behind & in front of him in the 2nd half, Wenger had changed the back formation at HT.
I still can't believe Hendo didn't wrap Benteke for not busting a gut to get on the end of his cross 2nd half - instead of letting Benteke remonstrate at Ibe.

Get some top notch defenders, goalkeeper and players, and we'll see younger players like Ibe begin to improve around the talent. Ideally, he'd be walking into a side with quality players and little pressure to win games.
There is talent there, but he needs to learn when to slow things down, and when to speed things up. There was one moment when he had tons of space on the right flank, and was against Monreal. He ran at him, and instead of making a pass to a teammate in space, he continued running, and Monreal dispossessed him.

I know we all say it but this team with a fit Sturridge up top is a totally different beast , he would improve Ibe's and Lallana's stats
There are games this season where I have been on the edge of my seat with oue play so some of these players do look good enough, but it all comes down on who leads the line.

As I've said a number of times I don't think this squad is terrible, I think a few key players in the right positions will raise everyone's level fairly significantly.

With Ibe he doesn't always get it right but even when he does there isn't always someone there. Just look at the ball he plays across the 6 yard box and Benteke is ~15 yards out. Ibe does exactly the right thing there IMO, but he gets no pay off from it because Benteke is standing 10 yards back, if he wants to get his rewards from Benteke putting the ball in the net he is probably going to have to stop doing the right things which isn't going to be good for his long term development.

He's still really young and truth be told he's in a poor side. When Sterling came through he had Suarez and Sturridge on the end of his chances, if you are putting balls in and players are scoring goals from them that has to give you confidence, even if you are sticking balls in and the player misses them or the keeper saves it or whatever that has to boost your confidence.

i kicked off with a few around me about that last night.
For me, he is a young lad that needs patience and support. In an ideal world he would be being introduced / managed in a team that has leaders to help him along during games. When Sterling came through, then having Gerrard, Suarez and Sterling during games to help him along will have helped massively.
He just needs confidence. There was an instance last night where he took a terrible corner but we somehow managed to get another one. Ibe walked away from it and Firmino had to walk over to take the corner.
I think though that Klopp will make a good player out of him.

He looked **** hot when on loan at derby. Iirc he was mostly played on the left allowing him to cut inside on his stronger right side.

His decision making is generally poor and he doesn't seem to learn within the context of the game. Last night he seemed to try the same thing, with little to no success, time and time again, when a more experienced and canny player would have tried a variety of things to get the better of the fullback.
We've always had a tendency to compare him with Sterling, at the moment he's coming up short, he doesn't have Raheem's electric pace over the first 4 or 5 yards to take him away from a marker and he doesn't appear to have the same ability to manipulate the ball either.
That said, he's just turned 20 and has bags of potential - he can be bullish, direct, very fast when he's up to speed, and can finish. He needs to work on his decision making, crossing (especially looking for that early ball which he just doesn't play), and I'd like to see him work on a "trick" just something to give him an extra yard of space.
As a club we need to give him lots of minutes on the pitch so he grows and learns.

Yep, headless chicken.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostHe plays like he left his brain at home. Can't pass for **** and takes the wrong option when dribbling every single time. He has the physique to be good lets just hope its inexperience at this stage. I would love to be wrong about him.
and to make matters worse defenders just ease him out wide and this kills his ability to make an early cross. Im not sure if he is just relishing his time on the ball a bit too much and isnt in a rush to make a pass... playing for himself and not team mates. lallana is also a.little bit guilty of this.
maybe ibe is looking at the way sterling got himself so much attention and be fancies being in the spotlight. So wasteful, greedy.
