I also asked this question in another thread:

How do we think Rodgers will address the key area that makes his teams work?

Gerrard is too good a player to omit, but Rodgers needs to address our midfield, how does he go about it?

**** me but our new guy is the ultimate in talking a good game. He's hit every possible note perfectly regarding the club, our history, the city, Kenny and even including clarifying his position on the owners/Ayres' DoF preference in an extraordinary "don't **** with me" manner. If his coaching execution is at even 60-70% of his verbals, he could have us all forgetting Rafa in 18 months or even less. I'm worried about how he'll handle European fixtures but I suppose that tactical obsession and attention to detail is what rafa's strength was too. I'm ****in buzzing about him even though I don't know what to call him yet, Rodgers being too cold and Brendan being too ****e. Buck is ****e as well.

With our current squad I'd be looking to play something like this.

        ................Reina.......................
        .........Skrtel......Agger...............
        Johnson.......................Enrique
        ................Lucas......................
        ......Henderson......Shelvey........
        .Gerrard........................Suarez.......
        ................Carroll.................

looking at that side the midfield certainly needs some experience, we may have it with Aquilani if he comes back (I doubt it) and Adam may suit the formation better but I'd like to see a top class midfielder to come in along with someone to carry a bit of the burden from Gerrard as well as another goalscorer.

BR though does have a side thats not a million miles away, just have to see how he goes about putting together how they're going to play and who is going to play in his system

        Don't want much do I

A loan to a good Championship club would be more appropriate move at this stage of their career ...

So you'd send Shelvey on loan and it's too early for Suso but we don't need Sigurdsson because we have those two?

                You really are a fool.

Well, I know this will be complicated for you, but I will try to explain it to you like you were a 6-years old ...

Yes, I would send Shelvey on loan to Swansea, if Rodgers is persistent in his intention to sign Sigurdsson ... It would give Shelvey enough playing time to continue with his development, and it would soften the blow to the relations between the two clubs ... As for Suso, he is still not ready for the Premier League football ... He might get some playing time in the Europa League and the domestic cups next season, but going on loan with some solid Championship club might be a better solution ...

You got it now, or I must put it a bit simpler?

                      WUM show!

So basically you're happy to admit you were wrong to include Suso in your list of players we have that mean we shouldn't sign Sigurdsson.

Regarding Shelvey, when you said that you wouldn't mind sending him on loan we should have realised what you actually meant was you wouldn't mind in the event of a completely separate transfer that may or may not happen, occurring against your better judgement.

Simple is certainly one way of describing it.

But the 39-year-old is far too realistic to believe he has made it as a top-level manager and still looks back on his ill-fated spell at Reading as a pivotal moment.

"I probably became more clinical after that," he said.

"I went in there looking to change things too quickly.

"I went in thinking 'Right, the club want a new vision, a new philosophy' and I felt if I stripped it down quickly and let it build then that would be okay.

"But what I realised after that was you are still in the business of winning.

"You talk about football, creativity and invention, but you have to win games - as simple as that.

"That was something very important to me on reflection when I came away from Reading.

"When I went in to Swansea I knew very well I could still work with the same philosophy and identity but I would have to get to the end point quicker.

"That allowed me to round off everything I do and how I work with players and it brought me success at Swansea.

"That six months at Reading over the course of a nearly 20-year period coaching and managing has been great learning for me.

"Hopefully that will be the defining moment of my career."
