We've been floundering since Rafa had the rug pulled from under him. We've tolerated Roy and invested heavily (emotionally and financially) in Kenny. But Brendan has got something, and I don't mean just a natural intuition and gauge of the innate 'man strength' of the young lads in his charge. He's got total belief, and I for one am starting to find that state of being contagious.

Although we missed out on Henrik and may lose a world class player in Luis, I've got total faith in the direction we are heading. I'm excited by the players we are linked to, players with a different skill set to that which we have become accustomed to in recent times. Talent replacing function. I'm excited by our style of play, and how dangerous we look going forward sometimes regardless of the absence of key players.

Mostly I'm excited by Brendan, his potential rather than his paunch, his footballing philosophy above his middle-management clique. His belief in his ideas, and the evidence we have seen in performance, if not always in results, so far in his short term.

It takes some serious optimism (and a little wine) to make this long term lurker post twice in one night
I feel it too, we've got the next drunken bacon face at the helm. I'm sure Brendans face will adorn a million dart boards in Manchester and London for years to come

Losing out on targets is frustrating as Tee says but they are cogs and wheels and others will fit too

He gets a lot of stick - all the David Brent crap - but the odd management cliche aside he comes across really well doesn't he. Getting better too - a fair bit of the Being Liverpool thing was cringey but he's learning on the job. Good listen, cheers for posting.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

What a bizarre thing to say (Warnock, not Chester). Why would he be out of a job if we sold Suarez? He'd be given most of if not all of the money to spend.

                  1. He thinks Suárez is effectively irreplaceable (look at how Mkhitaryan sensationally snubbed LFC and imagine trying to get in players who are as good as Suárez) so selling him will weaken the squad to the point where we will go backwards, won't challenge for the CL, won't get into Europe, etc., at which point FSG will sack Rodger.

                  2. He makes more money for his comments if he makes ludicrously exaggerated, monochromatic statements (which incidentally makes me wonder how much some posters are paid by Est for doing exactly the same).

                  3. 1 + 2.
                  .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Great post. A much needed one.

I like the approach our entire club is taking. We will have some growing pains but finally we are a sensibly run club. Sometimes we need to take a few steps back to move forward and I think that is what we have done.

I am still not 100% convinced by Brendan. There are a lot of things I like about him. I am encouraged by his signings, his football philosophy but there is always a doubt in the back of my mind. I guess until he wins a trophy that doubt will remain.

In the worst case even if Brendan does not work out, at the end of his contract we will have a financially stable club, reasonable transfer budget and wage bill, talented young squad, very good youth system and I think we will be able to attract a lot of talented managers who will find it attractive to work with what we provide. To reiterate, that is the worst case and I hope Brendan will be here for the long haul. He is a very likable person and a talented young manager - a sort of person whom we can grow to be proud of as a manager.

I am 100% convinced that Brendan Rodgers will bring the PL trophy to Anfield within the next four years. With or without Suarez.

Clearly he's planning a move to the MLS.

                              Rodgers out.
