I wouldn't say Martinez has flopped at Bayern, he was eased into it slowly by Heynckes and has done ok so far, but he definitely was not worth 40million euros, the problem with a fee that size is that its almost impossible to justify when you're a defensive mid. Luiz Gustavo has also been playing well.

XABI ALONSO MUST TAKE PAY CUT TO RE-JOIN LIVERPOOL
XABI ALONSO would have to take a big pay cut to go back to Liverpool.
The Spain midfielder, 31 (left) has rejected a new two-year contract at Real Madrid which has alerted his old club.
Liverpool have held informal talks with his agent about the possibility of bringing him back to Anfield.
But Alonso has a lucrative deal in Madrid that Liverpool would struggle to match, earning a basic salary of almost £80,000 a week, plus bonuses and a share of his own image rights.
The new deal he has rejected from Real is even more lucrative – meaning Liverpool may have to smash their newly-impose wage structure to bring him back. Reds managing director Ian Ayre recently confirmed that Liverpool would be offering performance-related contracts to all new signings.
But that means Alonso can expect to earn more if he goes elsewhere.
MLS side LA Galaxy and Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala are both interested in signing him and have the financial clout to better the three-year deal on offer at Anfield.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers looks keen to reunite his supporters with one of their Istanbul heroes as Xabi Alonso keeps Real Madrid waiting on signing a new contract claims The Daily Mail.
alonsoThe 31-year old was a key player in Rafa Benitez’s spell at the Club that included FA Cup and Champions League victories and the Spanish international has gone on to keep that form with Real Madrid as he chases his second Champions League winners medal.
Liverpool know it was a mistake to undervalue the player’s importance to the club, who’s future at Anfield was put in limbo when they openly allowed him to leave if a replacement could be found, a decision no Liverpool fan agreed with.
The Anfield Club have always remained in Alonso’s heart and the player has never ruled out a return to Merseyside one day, and with Madrid Coach Jose Mourinho being linked with jobs away from the Bernabeu, now could be a good a time as any for Alonso to ‘come home’.
A fee would need to be agreed with Madrid as Alonso’s contract runs till 2014 but with the possibility of a new manager at Madrid next season, Madrid may see it as a good time to claw back some of the £30 million pound they paid for Alonso back in 2009.

Begrudgingly, Ol'Red Nose is one of the few who has. Many others are flash in the pan, flavour of the month type managers... Didn't Xabi have a great relationship with Sami Hyypia?
