I just about remember Kenny but for me there really has been no contest, its Gerrard by a country mile. Totally respect those who say Kenny, but as a footballer I can honestly say that Gerrard has been the best footballer I have seen play for Liverpool.

Considering that Gerrard has single handily carried us for over a decade, and compare the players Kenny was surrounded by..... Gerrard for me.

We are lucky to have had two world class players the likes of Kenny and Gerrard.

Not really no. John Barnes made more of an impression on me because I was a kid, in total awe of him. I was about 21 when Gerrard broke into the team.

I was just about to post Barnes as well. He was phenomenal. As was Peter Beardsley - all these years on and I still can't understand the decision to get rid of him, never will.

Just watch a clips reel of all of his Liverpool goals now - he would have been one of the absolute top players in the league if he was at his peak even now. Some player.

I guess the difference is that Steven was a Liverpool product and has spent his whole career here - that colours it slightly.

Haven't seen to much of Kenny in his prime my first season ticket was 84/85 when i was 12 and Kenny was a different player then. But like Shaggy says its who you grew up with and I grew up with pictures of Kenny on my wall, kenny on my bib etc!!

But both are magical players and both world class in there prime. I still went to games in the late seventies with my uncle and it was all about dalglish but then my Uncle always talked about hunt and hughes again becuase thats who he grew up with.

Back then Liverpool were a well oiled machine, We lost stars, We bought stars and we made stars and it was always about the team and the Liverpool way, one thing I know for certain if it wasn't for Steven Gerrard over the last 10 years we would have been absolutely screwed!!!

My heart would say Kenny, My head would say Gerrard......or is that the other way round

grew up watching Kenny and he was amazing. the team around him were also so good that it was easy for him to shine.
Gerrard has often had to carry a few passengers.

kenny for skills and craft, gerrard for driving the team and making us perform above our average... gerrard is the best.
