That's the problem with Gerrard we take for granted he's going to be top class game after game.

He didn't have a great game for me yesterday but as you say he's set up half our goals so even when not playing well he can and does offer/create something for us.

he does need a shake up but not at the expense of swapping him for a lesser player.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

I may be in the minority but I didn't think Gerrard was poor yesterday, admittedly he wasn't great either. I think the problem is we have such high expectations of him. He created a few decent chances from set pieces and from open play yesterday, and has been doing the same all season. We need to accept that he isn't playing the same role he was 4 years ago and we won't see the same tangible output that we used to because of it.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

If we had a strong, athletic, workmanlike DM beside Lucas, taking the stress from Lucas... we could push Gerrard that bit further forward and utilise his best assets.. which are his strike of ball and his delivery.

Stevie looks tight and slow, fabulous passer with time on the ball... but struggles in that deep position when teams press high and hard against us. He is 100% not finished.... just IMO is being used in a position that doesn't suit him because we don't have the right personnel.

Exactly how I feel. Playing against Fulham in a much more advanced position, he was incredible. Yesterday, he looked leggy, struggled to get back, and despite his assists, he just seemed to be tired. His technical qualities on the ball cannot be doubted, that's for sure.

I think there is an argument that he's always looked that way in the position he's now playing. Perhaps he just needs more time to master that position. If he's got the energy to cause mayhem further forward against Fulham then he should have no problems in a holding position.

We were generally poor all across the midfield, passing accuracy was below par, rarely nice balls into players paths. Was a bit cumbersome. I think this made Stevie looked more jaded than he perhaps was. No fluency generally.

Maybe if we get a workhorse DM in Jan.. Stevie might be pushed up the field to a position with less donkey work & defensive aspects.. IMO we'd get the best out of him up there.

I can't fathom the negativity towards Gerrard lately. I thought he played well, set up goals, what more do you want? I think it has become trendy to give him a kicking. It is downright disrespectful. He may not be a force of nature anymore but who in the squad in the middle are we suggesting is better?

Thinks that is the issue that people are talking about. Gerrard playing as a deep lying midfielder beside Lucas because we lack the personnel... exactly as you said. He is amazing with time and space, long raking balls and decisive through balls but when pressed hard he seems to struggle with quick, short one touch passing.

Gerrard's production from set pieces & high up the field is fantastic... hence IMO why a lot of people think he should be played higher up the pitch. Couple that with how bad he is defensively & a lot of the times how leggy he looks in a role that can be dogged at times.

He was at fault for 2 of the goals yesterday ball watching but obviously he's been excellent for us higher up the pitch. IMO we should get an out and out DM in January and Stevie can be pushed upfield, having a role with less defensive responsible and less donkey work... allowing him to utilise his best attributes closer to goal.

Well that's what i'd like to see anyways. Think it would be good for the team & good for Gerrard.

It's like many years ago we pulled the fittest girl in the world, and got to shag her every Saturday. Years ago, she'd chuck in the odd blow-job too as a bonus, quite regularly in fact. She nearly left us twice, and for the same complete ******* each time, but in the end she stayed loyal and married us. But now, despite the fact that just about every fan of every other club in the world would be ecstatic with shagging one of the fittest girls in the world, we're still missing the blow-jobs.

                          Or something.
