Is he constantly playing injured the last couple of seasons? He can't seem to shoot anymore. I wonder if he's been told not to or something.

I can understand putting yourself at risk for competitive fixtures. But this is just silly. It's not like if he misses a game he'll never get back in the team. He's got a decent chance of getting us back into the CL this season. Not sure why he'd take the risk.

Obviously I'm not as patriotic as him

You even have to look at the management. They should be trying out some of the promising youngsters rather than picking the ones who they know will do the job

I think he's being 'managed'. Has been carrying injuries a while now

He is England Captain. Leading the team out against Germany at Wembley has got to be on most Englishman's Bucket lists. I'd certainly go through the pain to do it.

I can understand why he does it, imagine you were the captain of your country you'd try and play every game you could I'd imagine.

This is ridicuous. Pain is the bodies message that there is a problem.

Taking injencitons to play means the pain is obviously severe - that means he is ignoring a severe problem to play for England. Ignoring problems makes them worse.

He may be England captain but he is Liverpool captain too and we pay his wages.

Still think he could do with being benched some games. If only to save his legs.
He was fantastic for us after the new year last season.

England captain Steven Gerrard is hoping a series of special back injections will extend his career for at least two seasons after crediting the procedure for his return to top form.
                      Daily Telegraph

Captain Steven Gerrard says England are ready to show Germany the scale of their improvement under manager Roy Hodgson when they meet at Wembley on Tuesday.
England face Germany for the first time since Joachim Low's side won 4-1 in Bloemfontein in the last 16 of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Gerrard said: "I'd say we are better.

"If we were to meet Germany tomorrow in a World Cup situation I don't think we'd leave the pitch having lost 4-1."
The Liverpool midfielder, 33, added: "I do feel as if we're a lot stronger. There is a good mix of youth and experienced players in the squad at the moment who are all moving forward and improving all the time."
yeah but England are still ****

Should just ply him with loads of injections so he can make the game. He had no issues doing it for a meaningless frienldy the idiot

He's got Beckham's record in his sights and seeing that he's probably going to retire at the World Cup he's running out of games. There's no shame in him wanting to become the highest capped player for England in history, none whatsoever. He's given enough for Liverpool, and the sacrifices he's made here have denied him a number of domestic honours that he has deserved to achieve.

He and he alone won't make or break our season and I'd imagine he'll be the most fired up player in our side this weekend
