It may look like red tinted glasses etc but I have thought about Gerrards position in world cfootball. Due to his incredible flexability I rate him higher than all of his generation. Messi is the best striker by far but I suspect a **** fullback, so very one dimensional, it doesn't matter where Gerrard plays he always delivers. This versatilty makes him the best player of his generation by far.

I know Suarez bagged three but I thought Gerrard was fantastic today, played with great energy and tempo. His passing was brilliant (again) and his accuracy and crossing was fantastic.

For me he was our best player today.

He was tremendous yesterday and was great last week as well. I think the England games have actually got him back into form!

This is an argument I've had with scummers and other fools. SG could put in a decent shift in any outfield position. How many other "great" players can you say that about.
