oooffffttt, as much as i love stevie thats a hell of a claim to make.Originally posted by acdmackay View PostHe's got to be our best ever player. The main reason I say this is that Kenny played in teams that were dominating Europe and England. He had great players in every position around him
Though Gerrard has played with some talented players he has always been our focal point, our stand out player and we have often had to rely on his brilliance to achieve greatness.
He never played with a team of a similar strength to the one Kenny used to play in. For that reason, to achieve what he has makes him our greatest ever for me.
i get ur reasoning and agree with a good bit of it, but players like kenny, souness and liddell IMO should be before stevie at this moment. at least till we see what the next 4-5 years bring gerard.People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

I noticed that as well but imo he shies away as he just got back and he still is not ready for all aspects of the game.Originally posted by Lecter View PostOne thing I've noticed though is he is not in the slightest bit interested in tackling
Its often been a criticism of him that he vacates the midfield too much but generally when he was behind the ball he would tackle for 50/50's etc..
Last night a number of times he bottled out of tackles that he was the absolute favouriite to get, maybe its nervousness in regards to his injury and it will be something with time that will come back but its been noticeable to me that tackles that he is even clear favourite for he will not entertain
Hes still brilliant mind
Yesterday he had a clumpsy challenge against Milner (I think) in the first half that could have easily been a yellow but I think he needs more games and little confidence in himself that the bad luck with injuries is over.
Tackling is a part of who he is and I think we'll see more of that as time goes.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

Agree 1000% - for me it's 1.) Gerrard 2.) the King & 3.) John Barnes
Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!

For me Kenny is still our best ever player, by a long long distanceOriginally posted by acdmackay View PostHe's got to be our best ever player. The main reason I say this is that Kenny played in teams that were dominating Europe and England. He had great players in every position around him

Irrespective of how good the players were around him, when he was out of that side they were nowhere near at the level as when he was in it
Just look back at our history its no coincidence that poor form in the late 70's & 80's often coincided with Kenny being out of the side and when he returned invariably we kicked into gear - take 86 as an dexample of that he left himself out of the side for sometime and yet whdn he returned we went on an unbelievable runBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
