How do you define dynamic??

Fact is that Gerrard is still one of the most if not THE MOST creative midfield players in the league

Last time I looked he had something like 6 assists

Gerrards performance levels might have dropped but his contribution is still extremely significant and far greater than the vast majority of his teammates who play in midfield

agreed mate and against villa second half he was trying some lovely through balls. the problem is as far as I can see, away to spurs is how I imagine rodgers wants us to play, high tempo pressing. we were fantastic. gerrard cannot operate any longer at that pace so our game has to change when he returns. its a tricky situation and I don't think Rodgers has enough stature to even consider dropping him. thats a worry going forwards.

surely some other player on could fill in there in preference to gerrard. anyone

Allen covered for Lucas last time around as the deepest midfielder and is more suited to it than Gerrard. Allen, Gerrard and Henderson being the most advanced would make the most sense.

i know allen was in the lucas position but i judt dont see him as a dm. he is ok at intercepting and pressing a bit but when a tackle is needed he is a little too lightweight and to have to rely on him as our defender of the defence is a little too risky.

Everyone's talking of how well Lucas did when he came on, and he did no doubt. But when Allen replaced him he was just as good.

Winning the ball, efficient (forward) passing, keeping the game ticking by releasing the ball 2 seconds earlier than others thus putting Villa on the backfoot.

We should play him further forward and make the most of what he's still brilliant at.

We need better than Lucas,Allen or Gerrard at DM in general. But Gerrard does look lost in the role in the last games, and he has cost us goals. With Lucas we have more balance but he has been a shadow of himself since coming from injury. Allen has good energy and ball retention is decent but IMO he lacks any sort of physicality in the tackle & can't dictate games.

It's a very dangerous thing that Rodgers is doing with Gerrard. This bedding in period is a part of the reason we have dropped vital points. I worry for us vs Everton & Arsenal..... especially vs Arsenal as they tore us apart in midfield earlier in the season.

IMO, play him further forward where he can utilise his best assets .... or don't play him at all.

Lets give Gerrard a chance in DM. It won't change overnight and its too early to judge whether it is a foolish decision by Rodgers. I admire his courage to try something different anyway. Time will tell.

I don't think Henderson has the discipline to play a deeper role.
