Was good to see Carra for having the balls to say he wouldn't play Gerrard against United.

I can imagine most other arse lickers go down the route of, 'you always have to have Steven Gerrard in your team' etc.

It's a fair point though, even if you did want him in the team, nobody deserves to be dropped. Shame for Lucas too, who did nothing wrong when playing, but he won't get his place right back if Allen stays fit.

He was good. That looks a good role for him from here on in IMO. Not to damn him with faint praise but bringing him on for the last half an hour seems ideal. He's not fit or quick or mobile enough any more to go the full 90. I like the idea of him coming on to stabilise things and obviously give us that buffer of a definite goal should we get a pen or a good chance of a goal from a free kick outside the box.

Is exactly right mate and I've said as much from about October time.

Game changing sub is his best role for the rest of the season, he can help us chase a game, help us control it as he did last night or use his experience to help us see games out.

Did tonight what he's lacked in the past. Gave a solid display & kept us ticking over. Didn't try & force it & didn't try rush out of position. Let others win the game.

Was a major reason we managed to hold on to that 1-0 lead. Kept it tidy, didn't concede possession and dug in when defending was needed.

His body language also said don't give me the ball just because I'm Stevie, give it if its the right pass. Saw Skrtel, Hendo, etc, not pass to him when they initially thought about doing so. This is what we wanted to see.
