As I said before the game, he should be kept well away from the starting eleven. He's not good enough anymore and, as he's leaving we should be preparing for life without him anyway.

His challenge today was utterly ridiculous. I was confident we'd turn the game around at halftime, but his idiocy meant we had very little chance. Getting 1-2 in the circumstances wasn't as bad as it might have been

As reckless as he was today, that slip last season was just shear misfortune. A freak moment.

The 2 things are completely unrelated, it's not like he's spent his career routinely doing stupid things like today at key moments of the season.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, speaking to Sky Sports:
"I need to accept it, the decision was right. I've let down my team-mates and the supporters. I take full responsibility. I've been in the game long enough when you do something like that. I take full responsibility.

"I don't know what caused it. I don't know. Probably just a reaction to the initial tackle. I shouldn't say more about it really, I've just come out here to apologise to the dressing room and supporters."

Apology doesn't change what happened, he's supposed to be a senior pro not some impetuous teenager. What he did, especially in the context of the game and league table, is both unacceptable and unforgivable.

Why? Because he admitted he was a ****ing idiot? That is multitudes worse than a nibble on the shoulder. It's a cunt's challenge and a poor example to young fans and his own children.

                Unforgivable !

It's not like he killed someone.

Public apology ain't enough, with the month that's in it, crucifixion is the only option.

I'd release him on free at the end of the season. Make him play in America.

Calling it unforgivable is a bit OTT.

Rodgers: 'He (Gerrard) was probably frustrated in the 1st half when we didn't make a tackle. At least he was man enough to apologise'
He’s here! I *know* he’s here! That’s him, I’m telling you that’s him! You hear me? I’m telling you it’s *Keyser Soze*!

Ha, I'd not been in this thread for several weeks and I came across those posts. Kinda funny to bump.

But yeah, I've not seen any post match as the pub switched over to the Johnsons Paint Trophy final. Big game in these parts.
