His body is really starting to say no to him. His heroic efforts have taken their toll it seems and I concur with Shaggy, he could find it very tough going in LA

He won't care for la galaxy and he may find it hard to motivate himself.......particularly after being at a club for 17 years that he would run through a brick wall for....playing in the depot arena or whatever each weekend in a "soccer" match might be just annoying for him.Originally posted by Tee View PostHis body is really starting to say no to him. He should have been for us what frank lamp ard was for man city this season....play 10 or 15 mins at the end of most games.....

I know he's playing ****e but hopefully Rodgers will give him the send off he deserves and play him up front or further up the pitch till his career ends and let him do whatever the **** he wants.
It's how we remember him the best, getting goals and steaming in from midfield.
I couldn't care less now about what happened last year. It's done, it's over. This guy has given us some of the best days of our lives, some of our own ****ing family and friends don't even give us that and for that reason alone he deserves all the respect in the world.
He's carried this wank team and the bottlers that play alongside him for the last 15 years and is easily one of the best if not the very best players that has ever donned the red shirt. I am going to be ****ing distraught when he plays his last game.

Consistently trying to play Gerrard in this "quarter back position" is a big reason why we are not getting a spot in the champs league. There are several other reasons obviously but why the **** he kept trying something that clearly was bad for the team and the player, is beyond me.
Huge gripe with Rodgers this season. Rodgers didn't have the balls to drop him IMO and only Gerrard coming out saying he was leaving... it gave him the perfect get out. Not only has the team looked horribly exposed in the middle when he plays, not only does it leaves the defence horribly exposed when he plays... it's making it such a tough watch to see such a legend struggling to run around the pitch in such a demanding position and one that he never should have been played in.

Havent seen the last few games really, just bits and bobs. But this Gerrard situation has been bugging me all season, a manager should manage these situations, otherwise you're jsut a coach. Also, we are looking a bit like Kenny in the final season, there is no sense of direction or anythin, we always revert back to Swansea model which wont get us anywhere. IMO we should sound out Klopp and see what he has to say.Originally posted by danperkins View PostConsistently trying to play Gerrard in this "quarter back position" is a big reason why we are not getting a spot in the champs league. Feel free to disagree.

Maybe Rodgers was a bit in awe of Gerrard & a lot of coaches might have had issues with dropping him. In saying that it was and is bad for the team to play him, especially in that deep role. IMO it's not only been to the detriment of the team but to the players himself.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostHavent seen the last few games really, just bits and bobs. Agree regarding Swansea model, we're not good enough in possession to pull it off and don't have those type of players. I've been sitting on the fence as regards Rodgers but at the same time if Klopp came in and we got rid of Rodgers, I could understand the reasons why.
I'm a bit pissed off at how Gerrard has been handled this season. IMO we should have managed him better. Obviously he's a club icon and holds sway at the club or did. But his role IMO should have been a combination of a bit part role & when played, played in an attacking position where his strengths lie which in a much less physically demanding role than the deep lying one.

I'm not sure about that. I mean, I agree Brendan could have handled it a lot better, changed things a lot sooner, and I was long for using Gerrard in a different role, but I don't think it's right to characterise Brendan as only having the guts to bench Gerrard after we learnt he would be leaving. Remember at the time there were some claiming Gerrard's more peripheral playing role was part of the decision and suggesting we perhaps should have offered him a contract in the summer before that playing role had been reduced.Originally posted by danperkins View PostConsistently trying to play Gerrard in this "quarter back position" is a big reason why we are not getting a spot in the champs league. It was a very difficult situation for Rodgers as regards Gerrard being who he is. I just thought that when Gerrard announced that he was going to then states... it meant it was a lot easier for Rodgers to drop him.Originally posted by Red_Polo View PostI'm not sure about that. Yeah I agree it definitely made it easier, as did injury. But let's not forget he had already dropped him in the name of using him sparingly. I also wonder how much of it was just stubbornness in thinking it will work eventually, just as we saw with Lovren's continual selection.Originally posted by danperkins View PostIt was a very difficult situation for Rodgers as regards Gerrard being who he is. I think you're spot on with this too.
