Pleased Gerrard got to play one final time at Wembley albeit in a semifinal not the final itself.
He's been an outstanding servant to the club and may even manage it one day in the future. Carra/Hyypia as defensive coaches, obviously...
He'll play in the last home game, maybe even get brought off before the end (finally!!) for a 5 mins standing ovation. He deserves it.
Next season unfortunately will have to start with significant change again and expectations reduced to 'top half' in the first season. Rodgers may go, or he may stay with a more experienced team coming in to further strangle/support him. Transfers will be lacklustre if he stays.
I still hold out hope FSG show commercial strength and bring in a manager who has experience and an appetite to shove every other Premier League team 'off their collective perches" - that may be Klopp or someone equally driven.
The summer will be the test of FSG's mettle to see just how much they want us to be challenging again....

Allen and Henderson get shunted around so that Gerrard can play in the centre. The midfield always looks much worse when Gerrard plays, of that there can't really be any argument. It's not a coincidence.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostHis head went last season. The legs went this season.
Saying that, I don't think Allen or Henderson looked any better today, what was their excuse?
My old man used to tell me about the final season or two of another legend, Billy Liddell. He said that his presence in the team intimidated a lot of the others and he tried to do everything himelf, ending up taking all the corners and free-kicks. My dad swore that he tried to take all the throw-ins too. In the end it was a relief when he retired and the team could move forward. Sound familiar?

Well he's got big shoes to step into in that regard. Gerrard must have set the record for picking out the first defender at the near post. If it miraculously gets past the defender it's always a safe catch for the goalie.Originally posted by brightred View PostHenderson for captain? He can't even take a decent corner.
All his corners yesterday followed the same pattern. He's a dreadful corner taker yet he's been first choice at taking them for a decade at least. It's quite bewildering, but obviously a key reason why we seem to get fewer goals from corners than other teams

Shouldn't be playing in the first place. This sentimental bull**** is killing us. When Balo came on at HT and Stevie moved into the deep lying "playmaker" role i muttered to myself watch him pin long ball after long ball to nobody, and hey presto thats what we saw for 40minutes."When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah
"looking through your posts since 2007 and what you have consistently written about my football team I have come to the conclusion that if you had 1 more brain cell you would be a plant .. your father was a hamster and your mother smells of elder berries, I fart in your general direction ..." Nicey

Everytime Gerrard plays Hendo seems to shrink .... I can understand why - but its a worry all the same ... Emre Can seems to have a natural leadership about him regardless of his performace yesterday ...
Honestly after getting sent off after 45 sec's against United .. to put in that kind of performance ... I am beyond caring about Gerrard now ... Legend, thanks but hes not good enough to start now, Happy to see him coming off the bench ... but this is not Gerrard FC and we are not here to make sure he's leaving tour is a happy oneAnybody who criticizes Klopp ever is a James Blunt. Not really. Gerrard has been injured and out of the side most of this season and the latter half of last season he was playing very well.
Forcing him into the side at the expense of better players is silly. But thats not really been happening.*Except Michael, who died.

Have to agree with Redspin, I felt that was exactly the situation the first half of the season.Originally posted by Alex View PostNot really. Gerrard has been injured and out of the side most of this season and the latter half of last season he was playing very well.

You can multiply the hysteria of being knocked out by 100 if Rodgers hadn't started Gerrard at Wembley.
That's the ****ing circus we're dealing with these days, an undisputed great of the club but I'll be glad next season when we can focus on the team not 1 player every ******* week. The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.
