The way Fergie lambasts Keane is beyond embarassing. Anyone who wasn't blindly stuck up Fergie's arse would call him out on that. He wouldn't have won a lot of the trophies he did if it wasn't for Keane.

Gerrard IMO is the best player of his generation, certainly in this country.

dya know - looking at that young pic of him made me feel depressed

i'll be truely gutted when he retires - he's the best liverpool player i've ever seen

i'm just gutted for him that he's coming to an end and will prob never win a league title - he deserves one - but having said that he's still had an amazing career and won everything else,

maybe what 2 or 3 years left at best if he's managed well/lucky with injuries and we use him properly (ie we'll have to move on from him being the man man and bring in other midfielders to do his running etc and use sparingly)

Wasn't it rumoured we had Keane in our sights when we were under Souness, that the board couldn't agree a fee with Forest. One of those 'what could have been'.

Man - what a player, just watched those goals back.

he's the only player i've seen at the top level, who could genuinely play anywhere - i've seen him play left mid for england and be MOM. right back for Liverpool MOM etc

quick, strong, powerful, skilfull, good touch, good range of passing, hard in the tackle, good in the air and then his finishing - headers, volleys, bending placed shots, little chips, free kicks, 30 yard screamers, penalties - scored everything

but for me one of the thing that sets him apart - the one thing that makes the greatest so great - yeah there many players who score lots of goals....

but only the real top stars step up to the plate and perform when it really matters. And Gerrard has done it as many times if not more (maybe bias cause we remember them more) than anyone else i can remember in my lifetime.

It's one thing scoring a good goal when your team is already 3-0 - but how many times has gerrard come up with massive massive goals and performances

couldn't even list them - West Ham cup final, Istanbul, remember him coming at half time think against napoli and scoring a hat trick, so many times he's done vital things to win/save games

i've said this before re gerrard - yeah i'd love him to win a league title and rival fans will always use that to bash him with (he's good but he never won the league blah blah)

but, and i think gerrard started to realise this as he's got older - there are more important things than league titles...he's created a legacy bigger than any title now by staying at Anfield and doing what he's done. 20/30/40 years time we will still be singing gerrards name on the kop. Had he gone to chelsea, yeah he might have won a few leagues but he'd killed off his legacy here and chelsea fans wouldn't give a **** about him

1 - the goal against Everton at goodison when he smashes it in and turns away running along their crowd cupping his ears and then sticking his tongue out ****ing amazing

2 - Penalty against united when he kisses the badge and then kisses the camera

His and Carra's performance in Istanbul from the 2nd half onwards was legendary. That night for him probably makes up for never winning a league title. He was all over the place, midfield, right back etc.

yeah it's good - but i think the fact the other two are against Everton and United, at their grounds in front of their fans, at different stages of his career all just adds up
