Yep. Infuriating that Coutinho seems unable to kick the ball far enough to clear the first man.

I remember having a conversation with Neil Young ages ago when Gerrard was not consistently putting in good corners. His point was that perhaps his corners were getting cut out by the first man because he was aiming to just miss him for a really dangerous corner rather than delivering something that would definitely reach the middle. Maybe it is a similar effect for Coutinho? Annoying nonetheless.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostYep. Infuriating that Coutinho seems unable to kick the ball far enough to clear the first man.
The opposite end of the spectrum would be what I saw at Cambridge on boxing day. Every corner went to the same spot just outside the six yard box but equally consistently it was just too high for anyone to head on goal with any power. I guess the question is what is the best way of playing the odds."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I've been (overly) critical of Gerrard this season but boy was he a sight for sore eyes on the touchline yesterday! Now that he's had a break, and has seen first hand how dynamic our midfield has been WITHOUT him, he'll know he has serious competition for places.
And we need his goals, strength and intelligence. One tit for another.

He'll do better when he's got Hendo & Allen in front of him instead of Lucas so he doesn't need to play Hollywood passes too often.Originally posted by RedRum View PostGoing to be an excellent DM once he gets used to the role. A deep lying playmakerMe, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Thought he was poor yesterday against Stoke. He was wasteful with his passing when we needed to keep hold of it, the penalty masked his performance, imo.
I read that he lost the ball 18 times yday, do you know any DM who loses the ball 18 times in a game?
As far as I'm concerned, Gerrard should not start our away games and have been saying that for some time. Allen, Henderson and Lucas should play the away games and use the high pressing that we saw at Spurs.
