Thing is, this all needed to come out in the open. Everyone now knows where they stand. SG can now play 30/60 mins and be subbed and still be appreciated without the goldfish bowl of social/media imploding in on itself.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostWell no, not like that at all.

Of course there is. That's what we're here for!Originally posted by Kenneth View Post
There's a lot of over-analysing going on.
We're the saddo's that didn't become LFC legends and accumulate memories and bank balances that exceptionally talented (or often, just lucky) people do.
SG's emotional attachment is even greater than ours. The bugger's lived in a dream satiated bubble all his life.
I just want him to do a Jenson... "don't feel sorry for me..."
For supporters, me anyhoow, it's the end of an era: we're owned by yanks who employ a bunch of foreign mercenaries to represent LFC - that is footy these days. I just can't empathise with the game as it is (so there will be a period of mourning for me, no doubt).
Just what has LFC to do with Scousers anymore?

It has everything to do with Liverpool. Ask yourself why people from Norway spend a fortune to get to Anfield? Why does LFC fill out a ground in New York against non-existent Man City fans? Why did a young lad ballsy enough to ask for a trial out in Australia get a chance when the tour out there was packed?Originally posted by mick the click View PostJust what has LFC to do with Scousers anymore?
It is Liverpool. It is you. It is the crowd. It is the family ethos. It is YNWA.
That's powerful.

He's just been told by the manager that he is going to have less playing time then he's been used to, being a club legend and being first name on the team sheet all the time that has to be hard to accept, some people might down tools and refuse to play for a manager who's just told them that especially if he doesn't agree with the managers assessment. That's why he said it imo.Originally posted by mick the click View PostJust watched the interview.
What get me is that he feels he has to say he won’t be ‘downing tools’ etc. Makes me think he was disrespected in some way – the offer he was given.
I’ll hold my tongue for now, but I’m currently not a fan of FSG.
I also notice that FSG wasn’t mentioned in the interview.

Come on, people come from Norway to watch us because when the people with the most disposable income these days were young when we were great on the pitch and won everything going. We've maintained just enough success over the years since to keep them interested.
Of course we have our traditions, which are important to fans, but the way the game has gone we're an international brand that's constrained by being unfortunate not to be located in London and can't move.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

Taken liberties, but I've corrected it for you. A bit. (FFS don't take offence!)Originally posted by Kenneth View PostCome on, people come from Norway to watch us because when the people with the most disposable income were young when we were great on the pitch and won everything going. Of course we have our traditions, disasters and phoenix-like successes which add to the legend and which are part of the romance for offshore fans, but the way the game has gone we're an international brand that's constrained by having been mismanaged and misowned for many a year. Anfield is in Liverpool. Not London. Thank God. However, it sometimes sounds like a library.
The more I think about it (and I've had a glass or two before my January ramadan begins...) the more I think that FSG need to explain how they expect us to be the best again. Preferably with Scousers.
