FFS Dane, the only faith I'm showing Benitez here is that he's not **** and has a well-conceived rationale for resting Mata. It doesn't always work out but there you go, that's life, it's complex.

It boils down to this: you think he made a misjudgment for no apparent reason while I think he had some information we're not privy to.

Maybe you're right though and he's just blind.
    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

The whole "Rafa - rotation" thing is silly, as is to blame him for an inadequacies of a squad he inherited (as much as it is to laud him for their pre-existing talents), but resting Mata unnecessarily is always a plain and simple mistake in my book.
Are you suggesting he should take the FA cup seriously?

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Well either that or you are clearly a fan of rafa and you are trying to defend him. Each to their own and debating over the Chelsea manager is cutting in on my glorious saturday afternoon plans

Why? If he's stated his reasoning who are you to tell him he doesn't really have one and is just some blind crusader?

Rotation is completely necessary in the modern game and if Rafa can't rest Mata against a team that prior to Chelsea had only one win this season I'm not sure when else he'd be able to. Effectively the players given a chance against a side they should have walked over have let the team down, I mean there was still more than enough talent on the pitch to have won that game
