Benitez responded with an astonishing rant last week and now-retired Materazzi has continued the feud after offering a riposte on Italian TV.

'So I'm a liar? He's thin then, so that gives reason to call me a liar,' quipped the former Everton man. 'It pains me to say good luck to Chelsea but I will anyway, I feel sorry for their fans.'

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Not a dig at Rafa but I look at Chelsea's squad and I really do believe it is the best in the league or very close to being. They have a good set of defenders and an immense midfield with so many options. Their strike force was not too great until Ba arrived but their midfield more than make up for the lack of goals from a striker. In 2004/05 we finished with 57 points. The following season we finished with 82 points and Rafa only signed a few players which shows what a difference a few signings can make. Given the investment Chelsea made this season, they have massively under achieved and they should really be up there with the two Manchester clubs.

He didn't deny it though did he, because he knows Rafa is correct with the details about what was said, and the timing.

He's proved Rafa spot on with this personal attack, instead of reiterating what he said and claiming it to be still true; he's got personal.

Rafa has nearly everything in that team at Chavs that he wished he had at LFC (LB,quality attacking options, solid defenders) except a quality DM. Give him that and that team would improve massively. RCDNW.

                    TOTAL SCUM BAG FANS
The pressure on Chelsea interim manager Rafa Benitez is growing as supporters have started an online petition to kick him out of Stamford Bridge before the summer.
A statement, available for all fans to sign on the website change.org, pleads with owner Roman Abramovich to take action after the club nearly crashed out the FA Cup to Brentford.

If only they had real things to protest about as a football club. People might take them seriously then.

Football. It really does bring out the worst in people.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

                            Such a lovely bunch

I said it at the time, but he was on a hiding to nothing going there. Everyone was always going to be against him.

He's made some poor career moves recently IMO

I actually found that quite shocking. Credit to Rafa for just totally ignoring them - I honestly think he doesn't give a ****, but still. What a bunch of neanderthal cunts they are.
