I already said in this thread that Mourinho did a fantastic job because the squad really isn't that great. Inter was already on the way down last season.

Then you also need to look at the way Rafa want them to play. High pressure attacking football. It takes a lot out of the players and after a long hard season playing many games and then the world cup then it really doesn't fit the squad to play that way.

Many older players that had a long season and then the new manager want them to work even harder than last season.

The result. Many injuries.

If you're right then Rafa should have identified that as a weakness and tailored his play style accordingly. It's his job to get the best out of the players he has at his disposal. You're basically saying he has shoe-horned them into playing a way of football they are not suited to, which you would have to admit, is bad managment.

The thing I don't like about your posts, Arn, is that they force me to critisise Rafael Benitez. Something I don't want to do.

Probably been said loads of times but i really think he should have just took a break from football after finishing with Liverpool. You cant be so invested in something like Liverpool with all the G&H stuff going on and then switch onto another big club like Inter, especially after they won the treble.

I think the vast majority would love to see him do well despite what opinion you have over his Liverpool tenure.

Yes, but they scraped the league and have lost players and had an already ageing team get older. They have also had the lack of depth the team now has exposed by the sheer volume of injuries. Your comment doesn't address anything other than the superficial.

One relevant point there. The injuries have to be taken into account. But to say as Arn does that Moratti must spend £100m to challenge again is a joke. Regardless of injureis, Rafa is not cuttinmg it at present with the players he does have available.

I would say that the problem is that Rafa isn't suited to Inter and the shape of the squad. That is something Moratti should have looked at when he appointed the manager.

To get in the type of manager Rafa is, high pressure game and all that was completely wrong and I have said that before in this thread.

You can also add another very important point. How much do the referees allow now compared to just a year or two ago? It changed very much. They allow much more now and that doesn't suit older players that isn't that quick.

Have a look at a Serie A game this season and compare it with a year or two ago. The difference is massive. Serie A was **** to watch back then but now it is a massive improvement. The games flow much better and there isn't a lot of free kicks any more.

If the game hadn't changed then Inter wouldn't need to replace as many players but it has changed because it had to change.

Rafa should have changed his tactics something I said before in this thread.

'Rafa watch' refers to the fact that people are watching and commenting on how Rafa is doing at Inter. What's the problem? If it sounds like he is being slagged off it's obvious that he's not doing that well. Why not set up a RCDNW thread. Is this what this thread is supposed to be?

It was a pretty pointless post anyway as any thread relating to Benitez won't absolve us of reading the same stream of pointless bickering by both side of the divide.

I can't see any team challenging Inter in the league and he is probably the best manager around when it comes down to the CL.

Will they win both again? Very possible. Not a single team will be happy to draw them in the CL.
