Rafa has been confirmed as Napoli's new manager by their President Aurelio De Laurentiis...

Graham Hunter was just on Off the Ball and said that Rafa seriously thought about the Stoke job and the Newcastle link was also genuine - seemed 95% sure that Napoli would be completed soon.

Apparently Rafa was approached a while back - when he was out of work and spending a bit of time at Stoke during their European campaign - about the prospect of succeeding Pulis and running the club from top to bottom. He was apparently very interested/tempted.

Him staging a revolution with Stoke would have been really good to watch.

I'm a bit saddened he's gone abroad. And I don't really watch as much Serie A as I used to, mostly the Budesliga.

Wish him all the best though.

I can see why he'd be tempted to get a club who would totally trust him to overhaul everything, he'd love that. Close to home too. Assume he must've figured it was too risky a proposition. Full of **** footballers, it'd be some job overhauling that and the knives would be out at every opportunity. It would be too much of a bumpy road IMO. **** that.

President Aurelio De Laurentiis is the kind of President that allows the manager to build his team.

Probably a big reason to why Rafa accepted the job.

Very surprised at his decision to go to Naples. I seriously thought he would wait for the PSG job to open up. I don't think this will end well for Rafa because if Cavani and Hamsik are sold off he will not take it well

A very interesting move by Rafa . If he manages to win cups ( especially european ones) with the Napoli team, he will be treated as a god there.

I'm pretty sure he's been briefed on their position and their players. Unless he's been spun a huge web of lies to join them, doubtful.

His first job will be to find the next Maradona.
