Has anyone given Aspas grief? Think few people mentioned he might be a squad player... which he probably will be. Maybe i haven't spotted it but haven't seen anyone giving him grief.

There have been a few unnecessary comments and the fact you are already calling him a squad player despite him starting most games so far suggests you don't think he's good enough. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

If we keep Suarez and add Costa he probably will be a squad player but there is every chance that won't be the scenario and he'll start, which I'd be happy enough with he looks handy.
-------------Sturridge
----Costa--------------Suarez
-------------Coutinho
---------Gerrard---Lucas
Enrique---Agger---Toure---Johnson
-------------Mignolet

I notice everyone in their prediction formations has Suarez out wide. Did he play out wide even once for us last year (honestly can't remember) and do people think Sturridge's form was enough for Rodgers to change things next year?If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Sturridge has to play central whereas Suarez is far more flexible/adaptable in his game. I wouldn't even nail him down to a position just tell him to start wide but effect the game coming inside and going where he wants.
When they started together where did Suarez play was he central or wide?

Suarez played wide left against Arsenal with Sturridge central but I think that was really the only time - usually when they played together Luis was more of a second striker/#10. But really the positions were just nominal and there was a large amount of fluidity - Suarez was quite disciplined against Arsenal as a left forward but seemed to be given more of a free role when he was central.

You would imagine so, but they'll still have starting positions.Originally posted by rudedog View PostIdeally, I think it will be a front 3 that will be interchangeable.
I agree, but he still did well out wide. I'm pretty sure Rodgers also said in an interview that his central striker has to work extremely hard and it's an area that Sturridge needs to improve on (it wasn't a criticism, despite how it sounds paraphrased). Although in saying that, Aspas being a left footed wide forward would suggest he's got the wide role.Originally posted by Chazza View PostFor me Sturridge is far less effective wide
Hopefully we'll get to find out next year anyway and the decision won't be made for him.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I don't think you can read too much into him starting a lot in pre-season, our situation for much of it has been that Sturridge has been unfit / returning from injury and we are preparing for the start of the season without Suarez - due to the ban. I think with the squad as it stands at the moment he is likely to start the early games in the season because of this, what happens beyond that depends on how well he does. Whether he was considered a squad player or a first team player when we bought him is irrelevant, if he does well when he plays he will get picked, if he does badly he won't.Originally posted by RedReet View PostThere have been a few unnecessary comments and the fact you are already calling him a squad player despite him starting most games so far suggests you don't think he's good enough. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

yeah he did but to be fair its a very fluid front 3 so i wouldn't get stuck on their starting positions.Originally posted by RedReet View PostI notice everyone in their prediction formations has Suarez out wide.
