And so would I - it will be interesting to see what they do. FIFA have almost been forced to react to the others by their actions with Luis, and they may be forced apply similar, balanced punishments on the other players or leave themselves open to all sort of **** for the punishment handed out to Luis.

The only problem then is we could be without Luis and Mamadou for our first few games

Sakho will just get an international ban like Song got for Cameroon.

I think it's already been decided that there will be no retrospective punishment for Sakho. Saw it on Twitter this morning I think.

Agree with everything except Lovren line

Sakho is awkward and looks very clumsy almost every time he tries to clear, head and/or pass the ball but he does have physical predispositions and skill set to get the job done as long as he is paired with a good CB and to me Lovren is not that man.

One of concerns I have about Sakho is that he appears to be injured quite easily and we will need a deep bench to deal with those potential problems.

Don't really mind if he looks clumsy, and/or is awkward when clearing the ball, as long as he clears the ball, which from what I have seen, he does well.

And yet the stats show he's actually a very good player with the ball at his feet. Almost comical how he's perceived as not a very good footballer from perceptions of how he looks on the ball.

According to FIFA analysis system he is the 10th best player of the World Cup so far, above Lionel Messi. A rating of 9.47, 3 matches played.

Anyone know why he was benched for France's second round game? Seems weird after good performances in the group stage.

I think he'd picked up an injury. He'll be back in the team later so I've read.

Picked up a couple injuries during matches hasn't he ?

Been doing well enough, but it'd be great for him to get back in when France face some real quality in attack, only Nigeria have provided a test TBH.
Come out the other side with a good World Cup, and it could be a great boost going into next season.

I still don't see it to be honest. Very suspect to me.

Play's with a lot of heart but criminally lacks the technical ability we are used to seeing or would like to see in a centre back.
