With regard to Can also playing as a DM, he now has experience as a centre-back. He'll be able to split Skrtel and Sakho, and play as a 3 when he collects the ball, and he'll be able to move forward with it.

He should be more natural at that aspect of the game given last season's experience. You can also see the thinking in Clyne and Moreno as the full-backs bombing forward, and Henderson/Milner also able to operate in the wide areas.
