I agree, he's struggled recently. His marauding runs into any area of the pitch are curious. Is this Can stepping up and wanting to have an impact on the game? Or is this tactical indiscipline from a player who plays with his heart rather than his head?

He's blasted a few players recently. Notably Ibe for not pulling it back yesterday. He clearly has confidence in his ability but he's lost the plot a few times this season.

He needs to stake a claim for midfield next season (if that's his preferred position) because he doesn't want to become a utility player who's considered a jack of all trades and a master of none.

That's where you're wrong. We desperately need to finish 5th to go straight to the group stages and miss the qualifiers to the Europa.

So we should play Can again in a role he has struggled for about 4 months in? It's killing the lads confidence and pulling apart our defence. Or Gerrard in a role he can't play. Square pegs in round holes mate has been the theme of the season.

If we want Emre Can at LFC, the very least we can do is actually play him in his proper position. Much like Markovic, much like Gerrard even at DM.

CF is an issue but Balo is a joke, Sterling wants out, at least Ricky wants to be here. I did think it was harsh on Johnson not getting a few mins vs Palace considering it was Stevie's last game at Anfield. IMO it's we've got a hell of a lot better chance of beating Stoke with that team that the one at Palace. At the very least it has some balance.

Consistently being played out of position has absolutely shredded his confidence IMO. Also his legs have looked gone for a few months now. Poor chap has got terrorised at RCB in 2015.... why on earth has he been consistently played there when it's abundantly clear that teams target him!? Surely no good for the players development & no good for LFC, as he's completely fell apart in the second half of the season.

Good young player with big potential. hes strong and tackles pretty well in central areas, but he isn't the quickest.

There aren't that many positions that emre can can play for us in our first team. Defensive midfield is one where he can use his physicality like matic and schniederlin. The other is probably as a no.10 in a 4231 because hes got decent passing and he drives forward pretty well but its not an ideal because we have better options. If we play a midfield 3, then perhaps as one of the advanced midfield attacking roles.

Hes a really talented player but wasted in the back four / five. He definitely isn't a fullback or a centre back. Of all the new players hes been top of the pile for me.

I hope so mate as the poor ****er has got roasted this season in a position that has exposed his weaknesses. Really don't get why Rodgers persisted in playing him in the unfamiliar role, confidence looks shot to bits.

exactly. I feel sorry for Can, his attributes are not suited for that position long term. He done very well for a time and looked a great option back there, but when he got targeted by teams in the second half of the season.... Rodgers should have got him out of there quick smart. Not doing a young player any good IMO.

I doubt any of us thought that Can would play so many games this season & IMO his legs have looked burnt out for a few months now... has looked like he's been running treacle. He should have been protected more, either play him in the position that suits him or don't play him at all. He's got seriously roasted in the second half of the season & I wonder how much damage is done to the lads confidence.

Can in the false right back role must be one of the stupidest tactical moves witnesses by this club. It's bad enough asking him to play an unsuited role, but to ask him to come into midfield from the flank just left him chasing his tail half the time.

In fairness, Arnautovic was one of the worst possible opponents as like Can he's a big strong lad. As well as being tricky it spelled bad news for Can.

there is definately a good player in there. he has drive and passion, doesnt shirk a tackle, likes to go forward. just what we need in a midfielder.
it will be very interesting seeing him play for the under 21s and how he fits in to another team formation.

Can has shown enough this season to suggest he will be a class player. As a central midfielder or as a central defender. Not as a right back

Can's been selected for the European u21 championships this summer.
So that'll be him knackered by the time the season starts.
