It's 50/50 between him and Henderson in that deepest position for me. He may feel Henderson is only getting ahead of him because of the armband.

Can is a squad player for me at the moment. He had a few good games towards the end of the season but isn't a starter. For the majority of the season he was rubbish. Still struggles with when to pass or run and leaves a gaping hole in the middle of the park a lot of the times making pointless runs towards someone he could pass the ball to.

That's a joke in the current market.

Thought he'd agreed to a new contract?
          Really?

I think that was 'verbally' and according to (IIRC) an AnfieldHQ exclusive on twitter. So, no

I'm sure he'll come to his senses and sell his right to exist to us for the next 5 years.
              Really?

He's an interesting one really. He doesn't come across is a typical Liverpool player, but does offer something different. Fans opinions also vary hugely and going forward he may or may not significantly improve. I think he may leave because he doesn't seem to have a big connection with the club. That said, if we lose him and Coutinho it will be disastrous for the team.

I'm starting to think that if we sign Keita Can might be the player sold & not Phil

It's not a popular held view on here but I think a fit Can is better than Wijnaldum. Though if we get Keita I wouldn't mind losing Can as that's a certain upgrade. And somewhere around £35m seems aright for a player with a year to go... Although given they're Italian I would expect £10m less than that.

Losing Can would be a big blow. He played poorly when carrying an injury but after that looked like he was progressing as a player. Losing any of the midfield this summer would be a significant issue IMO. In fact, I think we need more bodies there rather than less (although maybe signing a left back frees Milner to be midfield cover).

The Ox links make sense if Can was stalling on a new deal, he would occupy a similar place on the squad. Jürgen has said he will stay anyway, so no worries

Can really started to push on towards the end of last season, up to that point I thought he was under performing. Hopefully he signs a new contract and continues to develop here.

Henderson, Can, Coutinho, Lallana, Wijnaldum, with maybe Keita to add. It's damn strong.

Although what would happen with Grujic remains to be seen.
