I'm only a layman on these things like the rest of us, but maybe the club are just being a bit conservative with the deadline and it is really not that bad at all.Originally posted by Pablo1981 View Post6 weeks for that type of injury sounds fast. I'll be relieved if it's only that.
You'd imagine that it can't be that horrendous given that he does not require surgery.
But, like I say, I'm only a layman who has googled the injury.

When you consider the fact that we'll probably have to pick three from:
ATTACK:
Sturridge
Sterling
Markovic
Remy
Lambert
Coutinho
And then three from:
MIDFIELD
Gerrard
Can
Lucas
Allen
Henderson
Coutinho
We should be OK in terms of how we manage. There'll be internationals by the time he's ready, and those two weeks before Champions League games should give him time to build up some fitness.

Some quotes from a Southampton fan about Lallana's lack of fitness that are slightly worrying given the fact he now won't have a pre-season:
TAW: As you’ve hinted at, there is some question over Lallana’s stamina – he was substituted a lot – should we be worried?
BEN: Let’s just say this – I wasn’t surprised to hear that he is injured already! I genuinely can’t remember the last time that he completed a 90 minutes for Saints. He has had problems with his knees and ankles for several years and often got replaced at Saints around the 70-75 minute mark – and this wasn’t because he had been charging up and down the pitch all match.
I wouldn’t say he is an Andy Carroll or Darren Anderton ‘sicknote’ type of player at all, but he is fragile and that’s why, with the hefty price tag and hectic fixture list, I’m interested to see how much he does achieve at Anfield.

It’s an interesting interview, but I think he’s possibly being a bit harsh on Lallana’s fitness.
Lallana was one of only 7 outfield players to appear in all 38 league games in the PL last season, and he started 37 of them. He played 90 minutes in the league 20 times, and 80+ minutes 27 times,so he wasn’t subbed off really early too often. In the last six years, he’s appeared in 229/260 possible league matches.
Just so you know ;-)
