He would have been great in our team last season.

At the moment though he seems lost, plays ok when he comes in, but rarely given the chance. Maybe Rodgers is easing him into the side.

Easing him in is one thing if we're doing ok, but might as well let him learn the ropes now as he's hardly gonna make things worse.

Mourinho did it last season at Chelsea. Constantly claiming he had no striker, even when he had the chance to pick one up and its pretty obvious he was setting up to bore the pants off people and win by a goal. Then when it was obvious they couldnt win the league they dropped off a cliff form wise.

Now this season, he has the 2 players he wanted and they are an unstoppable force.

He did it all to strengthen his position, so it wouldn't be a huge leap to suggest that Rodgers would do it too. He must have picked up a few things from his time at Chelsea

i got slated on here for being over-critical of the Lallana signing. I don't have a problem with the player per-se, it is just i couldn't see where he would fit into the team - especially when we don't seem to play with wingers. I think that he was a good signing for the bench but in reality, we are not at the level where we can spend £25m on a player to be a back up......

Lallana is probably an able back up for Coutinho. And he is flexible so he is probably suited to playing in place of Sterling too. And maybe Joe Allen as well......

For me that is about it. He is a back up for 3 players and if they are all fit, then he doesnt get into the team. Emre Can is probably ahead of him in the pecking order now as well.

And he will be further down the pecking order when Sturridge comes back and hopefully we end up playing the diamond formation again with Sturridge and Balotelli up front......

I was hardly enthused with this signing, but I think he's a good enough player and he's definitely shown more than the majority of new arrivals. The fact he hasn't really gotten a look in lately is quite baffling. We don't look like scoring and he's one of the few that might help with that problem.

who would you play him instead of?? take the chelsea game as an example?

I am surprised he didnt come on when Joe Allen did..... but i don't think he is good enough to get a start in place of either sterling or coutinho to be honest...

Sad state of affairs for Hendo, but I really think the lad would benefit from a spell out of the team.

Can starts every game for me at the moment by the way. Gerrard can be an impact sub played further forward, he's done as a holding midfielder.

I'd play him ahead of Coutinho currently, because he pressurises the ball more

When Sturridge is back then you have more of a dilemma but until then he has to play

Look back at the first season, Henderson & Sterling were ordinary first part of the season until we went 2 up top, then they starting putting in much improved performances. Last season they were great with 2 up top, same when we played Spurs this season

In EVERY other game we have played 4-2-3-1 / 4-1-4-1 hybrid systems and they have both been poor (generally)

Lallana should be playing every week.
He always wants the ball, doesn't hide, puts a shift in and is trying to create and score.

He's also grown up with 4-3-3 so should be a natural for the system.

Seems glaringly obvious that we should revert back to the diamond/two up top formation which worked so wonderfully last season.
