With this no longer hanging over his head and our best 11 on the park for the first time in months, hopefully he'll quickly turn his form around.

Dreadful is a very harsh assessment. He has not been at his best but certainly not been dreadful.

Not even. Below par is a more correct assessment.

He is an attacking player who has no assists and two goals from his last ten games, and those two goals came in the same game.

In terms of his attacking contribution, and that is his main function in the team, I think saying he is just below par is being kind.

Now he is not alone in his current form, Coutinho for example has one assists (against Plymouth) and no goals from the last ten games he has played in for us, but his form as an attacker has been poor for a while now.

Actually just dug up Lallana's stats as I was typing this post and he is on one goal and one assist from his last ten games (and those came in late December).

All three of those guys are not poor players, but I think it more than fair to say that as attacking players they have collectively given very poor return for some time now.

Here's hoping that they return to form soon and with a hell of a bang.

I agree. They may be the root cause of our problems at the moment. They are responsible for setting the tempo of our game, whether from a pressing point of view or via their consistent attacking threat (passing / scoring).

Scary thing is, in terms of our attacking output or rather lack of, is that our three defenders that have played most often over the past five to six weeks (Clyne, Milner, and Lovern) have a very similar attacking output in terms of goals and assists from their last ten games to what Coutinho, Firmino, and Lallana have.

Coutinho/Firmino/Lallana = 3 goals and two assists if we take from the last ten games of each player.

Clyne/Milner/Lovern = 1 goal and four assists from the last ten games played by each player.

I like him as a player but I don't think that long term he should be the main central striker, I get that Klopp likes a good all round player but Firmino doesn't score enough goals or score consistently enough to play that role long term IMO. We need at least one player in the side who we can depend on for goals when no-one else is really scoring and we don't have that at the moment. Earlier in the season when everyone was chipping in that was fine but when times are tough you really need a natural goalscorer to get you a tap-in or a scruffy goal that bounces in off his arse and I don't really think anyone in the squad offers that at the moment.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
