Good finisher, poor footballer. He will never be a top level player.

One iffy game and we're on his back. I don't get it. The team wasn't at its best, and Klopp also said he wasn't sure if Benteke could play two games in three days. He just had an off day. Of course we all want Sturridge to play, and we prefer fluid players, but he didn't shy away. Are we suddenly discarding the notion of having Sturridge and Benteke in the same team?

It's working out whether he's quite what we need based on all his games since signing for us.
I don't reckon Klopp will play Big Chris and Dan in the same team though.Modifying post.

To be fair the two swansea defenders are absolutely massive. Bartley looks like a NFL player and Williams isn't no push over either. I understand that it is going to be a similar tale most weeks. Not much support for him in and around the box so it was a hard game for him, especially with the lack of fluidity in our play he never had much opportunity. Swansea's defence looked well organised and any similar striker would have struggled today.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostHe's really, really similar to Heskey. The good and the bad... And the not looking all that strong for a big chap. He's scored some decent goals - but the Jury is out for me.

I thought he linked up well and was aware of the players around him. Shame he felt the need to go down but perhaps there weren't any other options so decided to take the freekicks?
Anyway, he's played well and it's his first season with us and we've had a change of manager. He'll score steadily and he'll be a strong squad player for us.Was muß, das muß.

Sturridge and Benteke are totally different players, its like comparing Hendo and Lucas ... both brilliant in their own right, both midfielders but totally different players ...
We are very lucky to have Benteke, he is a talent and incredibly dangerous when given consistent service .. I have never seen a better header of the ball on our team ... the ball goes up he either knocks it on or traps it. I think he was available a number of times.. pointed for a run .. but the ball never came because I think player are worried about turn overs and stats etc which is not necessarily a bad thingAnybody who criticizes Klopp ever is a James Blunt. Was poor yesterday, but under Klopp I think he's done quite well, expecially considering he's barely been fully fit. Looking at his games:
Kazan (1-1): 30 minute run out. Hits the post.
Southampton (1-1): On at half-time, scores world class header.
Chelsea (3-1): 30 minute run out. Goal and an assist.
Kazan (1-0): Full match. No goals.
Palace (1-2): Full match. No goals.
Man City: On 76th minute. Assist for Skrtel.
Bordeaux: Full match. 1 goal, won penalty (could have had a hat-trick).
Swansea: Full match. Poor performance.
So that's 480 minutes of football and he's contributed to 6 goals, scoring 3 himself. 3 goals and 3 assists in 5.33 matches isn't bad.Last edited by RedReet; 30-11-15, 12:08 PM.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I think he could have done more than he has already. Sure he was injured, but before that he has missed clear chances - not least against Arsenal. His lack of mobility is a problem, as is the team's clear default of lumping long, deep crosses to him when he's on the pitch. If Sturridge had a reliable body, then this fella would be the "plan B" option everyone banged on about for years that Brendan was lacking.

The problem is not bentekes lack of movement but the poor approach play from midfield. We are not playing the same way without coutinho so others tend to launch it.
benteke should come a bit further away from goal to get more involved in the build up and hold up play, and this would then give him a run.at defenders so he can better use his strength.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.
