Dom King in the Wail sez Palace will return with 30m offer, presumably the club will have the wit to accept it this time.

I'm not concerned. People say that we must hold out for decent fees, but now that we're doing it they're panicking. If the price is 30m it's 30m (or whatever it is) - not 3m less.
I'm fairly confident he'll end up at West Ham. They can't seem to buy a striker for love and money and he'll probably end up being their 'big striker'. If not Palace or some other team will get desperate and cough up the cash. For me we can rather sell at a lesser price toward the end of the window than get low balled with a month to go.

Knock off £3m here, what's to say the next club won't hold off for 10% discount too, then the next club etc. I'm glad to see the club sticking to their guns.
On West Ham, why are they so keen to get rid of Sakho and why aren't there a queue of clubs willing to snap him up at a bargain price, rather than paying £20m-30m for average players? I know he's not a world beater, but he's a decent player. Are his injury problems more serious than WH are letting on?If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I'm not so sure. I think that maybe works with players you want to keep, not with those that you publicly place on a transfer list, right? We hardly have any leverage - saying "fine we'll just keep him then" is not very convincing when you've made it obvious you want to get rid.
I agree that other clubs are in a difficult position as well, but it will probably be harder for us to find a buyer than for WHU and others to find replacements, and the longer this goes on, the lower the offers, because we'll be that much more desperate to sell before the end of the summer.
Also; if we're trying to come up with enough cash for further purchases, it wouldn't be unwise to get this done as soon as possible. Otherwise we'll again be the ones paying £25m for Ryan Bertrand on transfer deadline.

I disagree, I made my argument a few days ago with exiled Red (I think) for why I think we are in a strong position and stand by it.Originally posted by Daffy Duck View PostI'm not so sure. As much as we are looking to get rid of Benteke, we're not really desperate to sell as such. We've already completed most of our summer business and our net spend isn't that great, so his departure isn't really holding up any future purchases, so why rush or be held to ransom?
Also think it's much harder for WHU to find a replacement than for us to sell. there are very few quality CF's out there and even fewer willing to go to a club like West Ham. Potentially any club in the world could take Benteke off our hands, all it might take is for us to knock a few £££'s off the asking price, but at the minute we shouldn't need to do that.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

At the moment with the money around its a sellers market, we've made clear who is available this summer by the looks of it but we don't need to sell conversely the sides looking to buy have a large amount of money available and to not spend and ensure they'll stay in the league is a massive risk. At the moment our transfer team are playing a blinder. ****ing Ayre the cuntOriginally posted by Daffy Duck View PostI'm not so sure. With Benteke it all about waiting and how long - Liverpool know there is probably going to be a last minute panic by at least one club for a striker, on the other hand while they can certainly afford to keep him on the books that's of no real value esp to the player, who as the deadline day edges into sharp focus will surely have his agent touting for business.

We don't need the money, looks like we could have a cash positive summer anyway.
If we end up keeping him and paying wages so what? He can fight for his place, as he has already publicly said he will do.
I see no problem with how we are conducting our business this summer. We've set our prices and any club that meets the price can talk to the player.
That's great.
