Can I ask if things have improved since Rodgers has been sacked? It's not wumming, but a serious question. If we are going to go on another spending spree, will this rectify the issues we're having? It's been 3 summers of big influx of players and Klopp was brought in initially to make this team better.
    Are we winning?

It's been a mixed bag. We've seen some great stuff, and some ****e. But suggesting any of it is Klopps fault is ridiculous.

We are luckier to have him than he is to have us as things stand. He inherited an unbalanced squad with loads of players we have overpaid for who don't fit into a coherent team shape. WTF is he supposed to do with that?

Whether we go on a 'spending spree' is irrelevant to our need to getting a group of players that can play together to a decent plan. What are the alternatives? We have seen Klopps plan can work, what we need is for him to get in some players he can rely on. Brendan is responsible for creating this. Sticking with him and doubling (trebling) down on him with continued transfer windows would have been madness.
      Modifying post.

Is it though? Or is it systematic of players thinking they have made it when they join? We have bought a load of players from smaller teams that were good players. They join us on big money and the desire goes? How do you motivate these cunts? LVG can't, mourinho couldn't, pellegrino has no idea when his lot will turn up, same for Wenger.

So why do we seemingly have the worst return on investment? Why can't we replicate acquiring players like Torres, Alonso, Mascherano, Arbeloa, Benayoun etc in the same squad. I out to you that since Rafa left (not saying I want him back) we've been extemely **** and have well overpaid for players.

That's the root of our problem.

The trouble is, being a good player for a smaller team is very difffernt than being a good player at a bigger team. Teams sit deeper, allow less space and you need players who can counter that. This season, teams that have countered well have being doing well, but in comparison to recent seasons that is an anomaly. Sadly against us, it what has been par for the course for the last 5 years.

Klopp was brought in as thing werent working under BR, the squad he's inherited is ok, not terrible but not brilliant and he's got to work with what he has at the moment. We lack confidence and quality at the moment, until he's allowed to go into the market and try to mould this side into what he wants its going to be making the best of what he has.

We were 100% right to make the change when we did as we need to move forwards, the short term will be tough - as is being shown but Klopp is a genuine top class manager.

              You know all this anyway.

You list of three good managers there that in certain circumstances can do a job. The problem they all had was player recruitment. You can be the best manager in the world, if you don't have a balanced squad you can't win games on a regular basis.

The problem is is that its a vicious cycle. No Champions League and I think to an extent Brendan meant that we had less chance of getting the really good players in. Meaning we have to get the better players from lesser teams and having to work our way up the 'clever' way.

I think in January and probably summer we will get some clout just for having Klopp, players will want to play for him. Makes these windows very important.

Watford & Leicester are pretty much just following what Rodgers was doing here, whilst Rodgers was copying Klopps tactics at Dortmund. Barca are the current kings of this method.

If you have pace & one of guile or power allied with tenacity then you can destroy teams on the counter. Even if teams predominantly sit back you can still get them on the counter.

Even today we had a couple of breaks where tbh, we should have scored. And that was against a team with two banks of four.

Its astounding that those players can perform like that today yet they can give City and Southampton a total pasting.

We have overpaid for players. However take lallana, if we had paid £15m, most would say good value. But then you see his performances lately and if someone said £5m right now you would say **** off. Benteke scores goals, by selling him to us it effectively relegated villa, hence you have to pay a premium to get said player. Now he just isn't a play up front on his own type of player. He thrives on quality crosses and playing off a partner. We set up to do neither, so he was pretty much doomed from the off. I think it's a combination of signing the wrong players and some of the players wilting under the expectation. The money side doesn't bother me too much as its not my money. It's all mental figures these days. If we blow £200m a season and we get good then great. Same goes if we get good by spending peanuts.

Be interesting to see what type of player klopp brings in.

It's not just about attracting the best players. We knew how we attacked teams last season and what worked. A striker with pace & tenacity who will get in behind. Who do we sign? Benteke. We knew we needed some real pace out wide. Who do we sign? Firmino. We knew we needed a strong & physical CDM. Who do we sign? Milner.

                          Etc.

City allowed us space in between the lines. Southampton were the better team until Danny worked his magic. Second half they went gung ho and we tore them to pieces.

Chelsea couldn't be bothered. When we come up against teams who work hard and don't allow space we struggle. Primarily because we lack pace & also because we lack movement in the offence and power in the midfield.

I understand your point but Lallana and Benteke played for trams that had ZERO chance of winning or finishing top 4. It takes a higher level of qualit especially what those prices should produce to get there. Those players can't lead us to where we want to go and at that price tag that should be the expectation.

I get your point. But most players start off at lesser teams before stepping up at some stage. Lallana played in a team of a similar stature and size to Leicester, who are very much in the mix up for champions league places. Could none of Leicester players do a job for one of the established big name teams? It wouldn't certainly be risky taking the plunge on Vardy but he could yet be the real deal.

I think we are cursed though, its out of anyones control.
