It's a fascinating country with some great people. But when you walk past Lubyanka for example or through Red Square you become aware of the very dark and very recent history of the Soviet Union.

Jurgen Klopp admits there's no quick fix at "special club" Liverpool

Klopp hasn't been a miracle cure for the Reds since replacing Brendan Rodgers in October but the German is confident he can turn the club's fortunes around

Jurgen Klopp has admitted there is no quick fix at Anfield, despite feeling he's at a “special club”.

The German hosted a media day for journalists from his own country at Liverpool's Melwood training ground today, and during a question and answer session with TV, he admitted there is huge expectation because of the history of the famous old club.

But the former Dortmund boss believes that even if he does everything right at his new club, the money spent by the Manchester clubs and Chelsea makes it tough to deliver success quickly.

And he joked that even though he's on much more money at Anfield, his hourly rate is probably the same as in Germany, because the working conditions are far more intense than his previous managerial roles.

"There were great managers and great players working at Liverpool that have influenced the club's history – and after four months I really get the impression that everybody in this club is hungry for success,” he explained.

"We are trying to bring that success back to the club. But both the Manchester clubs and a few London clubs invest a lot.

“So if you make a few good decisions that doesn't necessarily mean that you make steps ahead on the Premier League table because these clubs are making the right decisions too.

“Everyone in Germany knows about the TV money in the Premier League and thinks it would be fun in the Bundesliga with this money, but here you have rivals with the same money so it's not easy.

“It is intense, there is a real intensity here in English football. It pays more, but if I convert my hourly wage I earn probably the same as in Dortmund!"

Klopp though, insisted he felt at home at Anfield, and also feels supremely confident that despite the desperation for a return to the glory days, the fans are prepared to be patient in the quest for succes.

“I feel very comfortable over here. It's a special club, a special place. Anfield is a great stadium and you feel the history in every moment,” he explained.

“It's an honour and it's great fun and a great adventure to be here. And despite everybody longing for a very quick success they all are ready to be patient and to invest a certain amount of time that is necessary to gain that success.

"Problem is, the last big trophies have been won a few years ago. It's a problem that many great clubs have in the present. You have to deal with that because obviously there are reasons for that."

Klopp believes he can deliver that success... and he also offered a humorous praise of his squad, who he believes are tough enough for the challenge.

He explained there would be new signings in the summer, but as he showed in the January window, he insisted there would not be spending just for the sake of it.

"Of course, the summer is important and there are several things we need to develop - one is transfers, the other's time,” he said.

“But we showed in the January window we will not be trying to sign players just for the sake of it, and just because we have money. We won't get drawn into a bidding war, because we have a very good squad already.

“It's windy here. It rains and my players train in t-shirts. I stand next to them in four jackets, so I have great admiration for their character,” he said.

Today's win was the biggest away League victory margin in Klopp's career as a manager.

He had a couple of 5 goal margin wins against Koln and Werder Bremmen

His only 6-0 home win was against Arminia Bielefeld

As you quite rightly keep pointing out, it's impossible to have an opinion on this forum which goes against the grain without being insulted.

You're 100% right. And don't let anybody tell you any different.

They're all waving phones filming themselves.

And yet the day trippers to Anfield get it in the neck for doing the same.

Hypocrisy. Let's keep on embracing it for as long as we live.

I don't necessarily agree with it, but it's not hypocritical. Those lads are making some noise.
