With Coutinho returning from injury and not fully match fit yet, this is probably where our problems lie.

With one less competition to worry about, I expect us to pick up our form shortly. We'll strengthen in the summer.
Neither Firmino nor Origi have ever really proved themselves as the 'main striker' both tend to be patchy scorers the same applies to Coutinho, Sturridge was but I don't think he's ever getting back to that level.

I know that Klopp wants rounded players that can contribute in all areas of the pitch but there is no-one in the side that has that aura which strikes fear into defenders and that teammates know if you get them a couple of chances they will win you the game.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

We look flat right now and the players seem way off the pace. The atmos is going to be huge v Chelsea next Tues, so hopefully we can find some form. I almost fancy us more in the big games to the **** ones right now.
Not sure. We still control so much of the possession. Our weakness has always been conceding on the counter attack and teams have surrendered even more possession trying to focus on that. Frustrating us and pouncing on the inevitable mistake from us and with us not being able to be as clinical as we were, this is obviously not working for us.

To be fair though, I think it might be have been a tendency of Klopp's teams already (conceding and losing concentration during games when they've been superior). Maybe you get found out a bit more here with the sheer competitiveness of the competitions.
      Are we winning?

There doesn't appear to be any attacking plan or basic movement. No one touch triangles. Nowt. It's time to play a genuine left footer at left back.

Interesting point. It's maybe the tangible frustration that we need to overcome. I think the Chelsea game is coming at the perfect time for us.

Given that he and Klopp slagged each other off quite publically when both were at Dortmund I would be surprised if either would be interested in teaming up again.
            also he is quite slow

Herr Klopp needs to pull his finger out. Sign two players and get a left footer in at left back.

I think we'll see Moreno back for the Wolves FA Cup match this weekend don't you? What he does with that chance is anyone's guess though.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

I adore Klopp but the way we're playing is completely his fault. The team plays nothing like they used to. Before we'd get the ball and bolt forward. If they had the ball 2-3 of our players would suddenly be in their face. Now its the opposite. I dont believe its anything to do with being too tired, since we hardly ****ing move for 3/4 of the games lately, and I dont believe its other teams finding us out. The ones who defend deep have always defended like that. But its the way we play that makes them go even deeper and more clustered.

Lovren gets the ball and slowly inches up the field with whoever hes with, just passing side to side. Obviously the plan is let them come at you so they open up space, even though our defenders are dodgy when it comes to being pressed. But they keep inching up SLOWLY till they're almost at the halfway line before they pass it off to a forward. By then the entire team we're playing against has been pushed back into their area. So many times theres players wide who are free, but they keep passing it around the same stupid middle area. Lovren to Matip, Matip to Henderson, Henderson to Lovren, sometimes someone else, but always back to Lovren. Makes no ****ing sense to play this way. Theres even times when we've just got the ball back from the oppositions attack and instead of bolting forward we just slowly pass sideways and hold.

Also if their entire ****ing team is in their box, WHY persist on dribbling it in just to lose it! Smash it from distance and force a mistake.

                    Knee jerking.

We haven't been playing any differently to what we've been playing all season. We just aren't as clinical anymore because we are having less chances as teams are playing differently and more defensively.

We tried to 'smash' it a few times from distance last night only for the ball to find Southampton players' bodies.

                    Be patient.

Nothing knee jerking about it. My points stand because its true. Not every team we've lost to have defended deep.

We had three clear cut chances to score last night. Two of them fell to Sturridge and Coutinho and you'd expect them to score most times but they didn't. We created chances and that's the good thing about yesterday's game. Had we created nothing and 'passed it sideways' all game the you'd have a point.

                        But you don't.

Southampton had two chances from six yards that they hit at the keeper and the goal, based on about 4% possession. The coutinho air shot wasn't so clear cut, I'd say we had one chance that you'd definitely expect to score from. At home with 96% possession. We hit a wall on the edge of their box (again) and tried to run through it again and again. We need another plan.

A small handful of shots doesnt explain our slow build up compared to our fast pressing earlier in the season.

I think we are much slower in and out of possession than we were

I think teams have sat deep but our performance levels have changed

We havent pressed as much, we havent had a good tempo to our play (in and out of possession)
