Who should we have overpaid for in January that would have guaranteed us 4th place?Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostIt'll take forever. By then everyone else has moved on. Not overpaying in January results in this **** so you potentially lose even more by finishing outside top four.
On a positive note if we get 7th then we won't have Europe in the way next season and can give it another go.Like blood on iron

There was a piece in a Spanish paper about Ancelotti, and that he wanted to gut the squad, because he felt it lacked strong mentalities, and that wasn't something he felt he could instill in enough of the players. This was shortly after Klopp got the job in 2015, and another appeal to FSG, in that Ancelotti wanted some serious funds to strengthen the side, whereas Klopp wanted to make adjustments.

Some fresh legs to give us the momentum to kick on. There must be some players out there that could improve on this **** being served up. No guarantee of 4th but we all knew Mane missing Jan was going to be a disaster.Originally posted by Red_Polo View PostWho should we have overpaid for in January that would have guaranteed us 4th place?
We need at ten players for first team and to fill the squad, that won't happen in the summer.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

It's not necessarily top players, but it's to do with mentality. Remember Rafa banging on about it in his first few seasons? That's what he focused on.Originally posted by Bender View PostHow do you attract top class players without CL and a refusal to pay top wages ? you can't and won't....this is LFC's eternal struggle....until we get RICH owners who will spend big to bring top players and pay top wages.
Since he left, it's as though mentality hasn't played a key role in our recruitment. We have no idea what the minimum output is going to be from our players week in, week out, because they're all over the place in terms of performance levels.

I'm with bob on this
Yeah January can be a **** transfer window but there is something seriously wrong if we can't find a left back somewhere out there
I'm not suggesting that left back is our biggest priority....but it's certainly for me, the most obvious area that we could improve easily?'
So it's either the manager or the owners? One of them has to take some responsibility for iti own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

To a degree yes....but having top players makes a huge difference, fans have short memories and won't be long before some call for Klopp to go....how can you go from being brilliant in the first few months of the season to being in almost relegation form....Not sure what prompted fsg to hand klopp a new contract.Originally posted by Phoenix07 View PostIt's not necessarily top players, but it's to do with mentality. Spuds are doing a considerably better job of it.Originally posted by Bender View PostHow do you attract top class players without CL and a refusal to pay top wages ? you can't and won't....this is LFC's eternal struggle....until we get RICH owners who will spend big to bring top players and pay top wages.3rd place. I don't think spending millions on fresh legs guarantees much other than you don't have as much to spend in the summer. In all likelihood it's just another player you'll want to shift.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostSome fresh legs to give us the momentum to kick on. When it comes to the squad I think it's easy to get carried away with numbers and that's been our downfall repeatedly in the transfer market. Get three genuinely quality players with the right ingredients and suddenly the others start to flourish too. We weren't saying we needed ten players in November after all.Like blood on iron
