No-one has a divine right to win every game, but when I look back on some of the failings we've brought on ourselves this season, especially in games we've dominated, it really rankles me that we've not fully capitalized on situations that have presented themselves in order to strengthen our hold in the top positions and separate ourselves from an annoying run-in.
We all know there are areas that need to be addressed this summer, but we're going to find it a challenge next season if we don't recruit in the right manner.
Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostI think if he can get in more players he wants during the summer, that we will see him build a team that better highlights his talents as a manager.
He is not an immediate impact style of manager, based on what he did in Germany, and seems to take a season or two to get his ideas in place and then he builds on them.
If he can bring in some quality players with hard/strong mentalities this summer, I have a feeling that we could be a ******* team to play against for almost any team in the league next season.
I think his subs this season frustrates more than just us though. I think the man himself is frustrated too and knows that he has to bring in the right sort of quality in the summer to ensure not only options from the bench but quality from it as well.
Every manager makes mistakes & every top manager has a stubborn streak. I think Klopp is the right man for the job but he isn't immune from critiscism. If we do we 4th spot, we certainly have stumbled over the finishing line but I'll take it. Whatever gets us into champs league spots so we can genuinely build a proper squad and we can see the best of Klopp.
We are still there and there abouts and can still do it but yes there are areas of concern. Hopefully champs league qualification and a big investment we sort the issues out.
No point in people arguing, i don't have issues with the way any poster reacts after a disappointing result or results... everyone does it in different ways. Overly positive or overly negative, it's all good. Let's just hope get over the finishing line and the club is in a good position to deal in the summer.

Funny position we find ourselves in, there's obviously been progress this season ( we finished on 60 points in 8th place) but it will all be for nothing really if we now don't finish in the top 4.
The not buying in Jan was frustrating but you also don't know what difference they may of had so pointless moaning too much about it as it can't be changed and if we do finish top 4 then we've got away with it.
His first full season with us and if we can finish now with two good wins then it'll set us up for what is going to be a very important Summer, we need more depth and and at least one real attacking fullback. I think more so than other managers we've had in though that Klopp does know what he needs for his system to work rather than the random buying of players because "they're good" trap we've fallen into before.
Maybe this season appears worse due to what could have been but I think that's probably harsh considering the other teams in and around us, Cheslea went on strike last season, Spurs are further along their development, City & the Mancs just throw daft money around and Arsenal haven't been out of the top 4 for Christ knows how long.

Right, I deleted a few posts here that really doesn't contribute to anything positive. Can we please stay on topic rather than bitching at eachother?
So can we just all try and a) be more respectfull with our comments, b) learn to just shrug the shoulders at a comment if it ticks something in us and c) remember we all support the same under-/overachieving club manager that have done a brilliant/disappointing job this season and surely will bring us somewhere between mediocrity and succes

for me, there certainly has been progress this season. Also, Klopp will know more and more about his team, what he needs and how we can improve. Big disappointments this season have been Sturridges inability to be fit for any decent spell and the unavailability of Mane with the African Cup and then injury. You could also say that losing Ings to another long term injury deprived us of some strength in depth but at the start of the season I would have said having him available would have been a bonus as opposed to important or counted upon.
Klopp said around Jan that we needed wingers. If the rumours are to be believed, then Draxler turned us down to sign for PSG. He would have been a brilliant acquisition. Hopefully we can get a Douglas Costa, Brandt or someone similar to play up front. I would love for us to get a #9 as well. And a left back that can really attack against teams that sit deep against us would also be really welcome. Klopp will know this.
For me, there is a lot to be positive about. I think that Klopp knows what he is doing and i think he will get a big wedge this summer due to the fact that he hasn't spent anything really. Also, looking at our rivals, i think we are easier to improve than them. Arsenal need major squad surgery and have the Sanchez and Ozil contracts to sort out. City need to introduce a new defense and goalie - and probably a central midfielder as well. United will need 3 or 4 players but if they lose their goalie, then that will be a big void to fill. Spurs will find it hard to get the right players that are happy to be squad players - plus will have to play at Wembley next year. Chelsea the same - but without the Wembley bit. So for me, the future is potentially looking very good.

I'm not as positive, I don't think Spurs need many players, they have a young squad. Maybe one or two additions for them. United have gotten stronger and stronger, if DDG leaves they'll get Oblak, they'll target proven quality, that is what Jose is good at. Arsenal on the other hand might face some difficulties. I do think that next season is a season where the gap between the top teams and the rest will be more accentuated.Originally posted by frank the tank View Postfor me, there certainly has been progress this season. There's definite progress under Klopp, two lost finals and now down to the wire for a top 4 finish. In saying that I think we have been really lucky that the others teams around us have been distract or stretched by domestic cup runs and European football. We have had neither of these to worry about and still we are stumbling over the line.
So IMO there is progress but we've been lucky this season that the league has been our only focus. Hopefully we get that 4th spot which IMO is absolutely crucial to the success of Liverpool FC ... we simply can't afford another year out of the top tier competition and to fall further behind our rivals.
Top 4 finish and then pump some serious money into that summer transfer window. We won't get all our targets but IMO Klopp's draw, champs league football & a big budget for the window ... we could do some damage in the market & then see what Klopp is really about next season. The biggest aspects that IMO we should be looking for is pace and aggression. Also targeting experienced winners, as our mentality just doesn't seem right. We have a lot of work to do in the summer and need to be in the champs league to make the best of it.
He'll time, he deserves time but top 4 is a must. **** knows what state the club will be in without it again.
