Yep. I'm guessing Lovren trains really well and has a great attitude.

Also a factor is how little genuine CB competition there is. Klopp clearly doesn't rate Klavan (who does!). Apart from that it's Gomez, who although clearly talented, is very inexperienced.

It's a shambles to be honest, given even the most casual fan knows that we're defensively vulnerable.

There isn't really an alternative, who is he supposed to play?
Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

        There's 2 mentioned above you.

Although playing Gomez at CB leaves us light at RB

I'd like to hear his analysis in the previous 12 games when we didn't need a DM against Spurs.
          Never noticed the name

I just post articles when I see them without any agenda. You know as well as I do though that we have suffered for a long time without a dedicated DM and this is just highlighting that.

As you said, Gomez is needed at RB and there's nothing between Lovren and Klaven. I just hope Lovren can put in some half decent performances between now January.

Not ideal options, but they're still alternatives to Lovren all the same.

Klavan might at least have the benefit of his confidence not being in shreds. Yet.

Klopp Maribor Press Con: on Mané/Lallana: "It looks good. Sadio had 'a clearing day' today ahead of returning to full training. "Sadio should be back in training on Thursday. Lallana part of team training during the international break."

Klopp on Coutinho and Lovren availability for Maribor: "Not 100% sure if they will be okay for tomorrow night."

Jürgen Klopp is not taking questions on Dejan Lovren's social media activity today. He wants to speak to him about it later.

FFS Sadio, take a break and we'll see you in a few weeks for Chelsea.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Don't forget he's been called up by the Senegal National team for the upcoming WCQ

Aye, that was my point, we should have did all we could to prevent him going, even if it meant missing a game he was fit for. I suppose he'd want to play himself though, so only so much we can do.

I know its very early days in the league and its still very bunched.

Looking at the table we have dropped points in 6 games, against teams in the top 9 of the table ( top 8 excluding us) 1 win against arsenal.Draws against Watford/Burnley might not look so bad in hindsight.

Next 8 league games against 7 lower half teams and chelsea at home.

Mane/Lallana to come in and give us some more quality/depth when the fixtures come thick and fast.

We could easily come Christmas be 3/4 in the league, CL groups, FA cup starting. Get in a couple of players in Jan and have a decent season.

Feels very gloomy at the moment yet we only 3/4 points back from third and fourth and still in the mix in Europe.

Some much needed perspective and optimism!

It also feels gloomy because we had a much harder start last season and absolutely nailed it only to drop points to the chaff.

It feels like we need the breathing room for those wtf moments.

But in essence, you're right, not as bad as it looks.

                              It is bad now.

Because of our expectations going into the transfer window.

We thought we would really push on and we haven't.

We need a great January to have a good season.
