Well, I think it is fair to say this kind of conversation goes on with pretty much every signing. It would be naive to think otherwise.

Most clubs are savvy enough to not leak the outcome of these discussions to the press before the player signs though.

Klopp played a blinder in reality, convincing VVD to sign for us ahead of more illustrious options. Then our PR department/negotiation team screwed the pooch.

No I agree mate - we just got caught is all - but to say Klopp had nothing to do with is wrong; has to take his share of the blame...

LFC really screwed the pooch on this one

Jurgen did nothing wrong really, they knew all along he'd met him and their media acknowledged it was our wild celebrations that we'd got the player when we hadn't even spoke to Southampton that ****ed them off.

Liverpool were unable to manipulate the transfer market even after Klopp had done the groundwork in persuading players to join. (Paul Joyce)

Edwards managed to get a £6m loan fee for Origi which may have kept him in his job but i'm wondering what he was appointed for in the first place.

Klopp knows we need better player but the better players haven't been signed, we're **** at transfers, simple as.
The VVD thing was farcical sitting around waiting for another club to bid in the hope that we could sneak in and nick him

I get that we didn't want to get done for tapping up etc. but why would anyone else bid knowing that he wanted to come to us? Ultimately another club bidding would just facilitate the move to us. If that deal was off we should have gone else were we had months between the reports of us tapping him up and the window closing. Not bringing in a CB was pure ****ing stupidity and everyone knew it. To be honest I don't care who ultimately made the decision the manager or the club both got it badly wrong and both share responsibility
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

The obvious 3, bit harsh on Gomez, is trent better? Maybe Can/Milner coming in?

Karius made a good save against Huddersfield in preseason last year so might as well bring him back in for good vibes

carol the tea lady at centre back

a small side note, but klopps ability of slapping down the press wont wash at the moment or his kick offs with fans in the stand. Does he feel that pressure and tone it down or carry on as normal, I can sense it going off on Saturday if we don't get a comfortable win

Sounds like Gomez will move to centre half as one of the changes. TAA at right back and Karius in nets. I'd be a bit concerned at our right side if Gomez lines up at RCB, not alot of experience with him and TAA.

Mind you it would probably be worse if he lined up a LCB with moreno at LB

Nah - I don't think we're anywhere near that point yet

                            At least I hope not

20 Year’s ago, Houllier bought Hyypia, Henchoz and Hamman. Klopp needs to do something similar because our central defence and midfield is absolutely ****.
                              Another MASSIVE game

Doesn't Robertson play centre back for the Scots

Surely worth a try in our current predicament
