The thing is so many of our players are better in open games or where the opposition has a lot if the ball - that is why Can and Gini do so well in these big games as they are high intensity with lots of turn overs in possession and transitions. Klopp has bought to suit ‘that’ style.

In Germany even the ****e teams try to play so BVB would have battered them, his preferred style is nullified by many teams in England who are content to let us have the ball and defend deep. This is compounded now by selling our only player who can unlock these teams from deep.

We are progressing but we still have a lot to do.

If you look at the EPL, pressing hard as a team is not really that unusual a concept. Spurs do it, Bournemouth do it, City will do it and so on.

So teams who come up against it on a regular basis will figure out ways to counter it and unless you have some really brilliant players who can either unlock defences or grind out results against defensive teams, then you get to see what happens to the likes of us and Spurs when a team parks the bus.

We seem to lack the ability to change the direction from which our attack will come from once a team goes into it's shell. Sometimes we get passed the block due to how good our front three are, but when they get blocked we simply do not have attacks coming from deep on a regular basis that would force the team sitting deep to push players out to block those runs and in the process create room for our attackers.

Keita is a step in the right direction to fixing this problem, as his direct style and dribbling abilities will force teams to come out to try and stop him, but if our other midifeld options stay the same then the usual risk of being hit on the counter through our soft centre remains.

For me we need another quality CM, one that is more disciplined than Keita whilst still beingmobile and it needs to be one that can read play/break up play/get the ball to the attackers.

Someone like Saul would be ideal in terms of style of play. For that role. He can sit deep and shild a back line , but in more open games he roams and positions himself so that he can tackle/intercept or simply just cut off areas from having the ball passed into them.

Get someone like Fekir to play ahead of Keita in that set up and we get a player that can play in the AM role who is both creative and an attacking threat, and he and Firmino could interchange at will.

Would probably cost the entire Coutinho fee to get those two, but I would see our team as being far stronger than when we had Coutinho in it and it would be a team that looked balanced imo and able to both soak up pressure and also attack from deep
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

No way it doesn't make the lads think wtf when they see a world class player walk out the door and us not bother replacing him.

****ing fuming. We have no ambition. City have won the league already but it's still not enough, they want a CB and Fernandinho's replacement. Of course it helps when you can financial dope but we hardly lack money, or shouldn't be. As if there's no attacking players out there that can help us. Roma would sell Alisson for a reasonable fee in this window too but no, we'll just carry on with two mediocre goalies and split games between then as if that will help.
I'm not sure whether it is Klopp or FSG or someone else in the club, but there seems to be an issue with transfer strategy and getting deals done. I don't have a problem with the players that are coming in they look to be quality and the players Klopp wants. But the VVD thing in the summer was a massive cock up, and I can't help but feel that selling Coutinho and not bringing in a replacement this window is a similar cock up. I would rather get the right players than panic by someone for big money and it not work out. Given that we must have known that Coutinho was leaving we have to have identified a replacement and if that replacement wasn't going to be available in January we should have kept Coutinho here until the summer. Getting in key players at the right time is key to progressing and getting where we need to be. The sale and lack of replacement of Coutinho is gambling a CL place for next season.

It's rinse and repeat with them and don't be surprised if Salah is sold to Madrid.

I mean as in last summer they still had some wiggle room.

        Not any more.

And if they do back Klopp, he might not have much either

Now Can is confirmed as leaving in the summer, we need at least two more midfielders to come in.

So for me we need a LB, RB (unless Clyne fully recovers), CB, GK, CM x 2, L or R Attacker.

That's at least six new players (including Keita btw).

It does look likely, but not confirmed. The reports are just that Klopp expects him to run his contract down.

                  I think Can is replaceable.

He's far too inconsistent, he is capable of bossing a game, but we rarely see it happen.

Can going is the least of our worries.

                            Yeah. Arsed.
                            3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Seen quotes of an interview he gave in Germany where he appears to criticise our lack of activity - not typical for him

If those quotes are true then it looks like Klopp isn't getting the money or backing he should.
