Brutal news though. Great player and a great character on the pitch. Not only a massive blow for this season, but I was really hoping he'd stay an extra couple of years.

Hope the club will do the decent thing & give him an extension for another season to see if he can get back to his best. We all saw it with VVD & the Ox, very hard to get back to your best as it takes time & Matip doesn't have that with us... most likely we will have his replacement up & running in the team by the time Matip gets back playing.

I would have said to give him the years extension but with that type of injury and his age, no chance. Such a pity as he's a top class CB and seemed to be putting that injury prone past in his rear view mirror. Konate seems very injury prone and lacks consistency, Gomez isn't good enough and Quansah is a kid.. it's imperative that we have go into the market for another CB starter in January.
