I ewas just having a conversation today about us challanging and not being a one man team... but then I thought if we lost Matip it could potentially derail our season, as the other defenders are all a bit unreliable... Sakho is mental, Lovren and Lucas are liabilities with their possesion, not seen enough of Ragnar to pass judgement, but I do think a solid centreback is needed, as both cover and a partnerIn the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

Hopefully Gomez steps up and come the summer it's not a concern. Big ask though. One way or other as you suggest an upgrade on Lovren would leave us looking much more comfortable at the back, as well as he has performed for some time now.Originally posted by Charly View PostI ewas just having a conversation today about us challanging and not being a one man team... but then I thought if we lost Matip it could potentially derail our season, as the other defenders are all a bit unreliable... The Sakho situation hasn't helped, he'll be moved on either in January or the summer window. It doesn't really make too much a difference if we replace him in January (if he leaves) because he's not involved in the squad at all. However if we pick up an injury the media will circle and start questioning the logic.Originally posted by Charly View PostI ewas just having a conversation today about us challanging and not being a one man team... but then I thought if we lost Matip it could potentially derail our season, as the other defenders are all a bit unreliable... I think Klopp will trust Lovren, Klavan and Lucas to get us through the remainder of the season, it'll be an easier market to shop in the summer and we'll probably look to one of the young German lads.. Maybe Tah or Sule if we can.Vive la France

Will take really big money to get either next summer, Sule in particular would cost a lot.
Would be one other problem with Sule. Whilst he does look like he may become top class, he is very right sided in his play and positioning and given that Matip is the same I could not see either being able to perform as the dedicated LCB.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Yeah I take your point, personally I'd be happy to see us get our points card out from our regular joint and go for Van Dijk, he's every bit the perfect CB for a while now.Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostWill take really big money to get either next summer, Sule in particular would cost a lot.

Edit: Not a reaction from his performance last night, although that was immense too.Vive la France

I watched the piece on him on Sky Sports before the Southampton v Chelsea match last week. He looks brilliant alright.
We should possibly just sign the Southampton scouting team though. The players that they have developed in recent years have been brilliant (probably the best performing youth set up in the country) but also their signings have been brilliant as well.
Van Dijk and Bertrand look brilliant........

We currently are using two right footers and if one if comfortable playing on the left side then it is no problem. But some players turn out to be very one sided in their play and struggle somewhat when played in a position that favours their weaker foot.
Sule though is like Matip in that he is very right sided in his play and in his positioning and has looked somewhat out of sorts when played as a LCB whereas he can look immense when positioned just a number of yards away in a different position.

Think he is a cracking centre back and plays well at RCB and at LCB. Said it before on this site, but he strikes me as having a lot of the same qualities as Matip but with an added level of physicality.
And if we are using of Loyalty Card at the St Mary's shopping centre then why not purchase Bertrand as well whilst down there

Redmond looks decent enough too and Austin seems to have settled now, they don't seem to miss a beat do they?Originally posted by frank the tank View PostI watched the piece on him on Sky Sports before the Southampton v Chelsea match last week. He looks brilliant alright.
