Any central midfielder that doesn't hit a good number of assists or goals will have their contribution questioned, unless they're a DM.

Closing, tackling, being available and moving the ball on really really efficiently tend to go under the radar..

Primarily that's what Gini does really effectively in this team. Give him killer through balls and he'd go up another level but most of the time we get by without that from our midfielders.

Would still like to see one of those players come in mind...

Anyone who has read the Atletic who can shed some light on why Ornstein is talking about a Gini exit?

Just says he has 18 months left on his contract and that he will either sign a new contract, be sold this summer or leave on a free in 2021

OK, so a non story if there ever was one. Thanks.

The same thing is in the Daily Mail

There is interest from other clubs but we would like to keep him

Both parties are comfortable with the situation and potential scenarios: recommitting, leaving as a free agent in 2021, or departing at the end of this campaign if a suitable offer is submitted. Liverpool would be happy with the first option and content with the second, given the value Wijnaldum has presented since arriving from Newcastle for £25 million in 2016. The final option is the least conceivable as Liverpool do not want to lose the Dutchman and would demand a high fee.
                          Oh I don't know.

I saw that in the speculation sections of a couple of papers, suggesting a move to Spain or Italy, not seen any clubs mentioned though...
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

It's almost as though nobody actually knows anything first hand at all.

Yeah but surely sports journalists don't just speculate on this stuff
