Not telling anyone how to feel, but personally I think we're shooting ourselves in the foot as fans by booing Trent.

This is our first title with fans in the stadium in 35 years.
Every game in this run in should be a party and celebration.

Everyone says that no one player is bigger than club.
If that's the really the case, then why would we let Trent's decision to go overpower what the team have achieved and our enjoyment of it, as that's what happened yesterday.

Conversely, there aren't many disincentives to taking the approach that Trent has taken in a system where good players hold the cards and clubs (and ultimately fans) are held to ransom. Maybe this public disapproval is the only thing that can put some degree of constraint on player power/greed so maybe the boos were really a symbol of the working man's disdain for the greed of the wealthy. Any good socialist has a responsibility to boo him off the park.

It’s mad. He could have been a lifetime legend here. He’s thrown all of that out the window, for what, to just be another player to pass through Madrid for 3/4 seasons and will be forgotten about. All for dollar, which he would have never being short of by all accounts. He wanted to experience something different, f’in hell lad, the worlds at your oyster when you retire… and if he really really thinks he’s in with a chance at a ballon d’or then he’s completely delusional. I really can’t fathom it. If it wasn’t for his brother I wouldn’t be surprised if he’d done a Gerrardesque u turn.

Its a proper shame whats happened, very naive of him too. I think RM have played him like a fiddle, otherwise he would've kept his decision quiet until the end of the season. They want him early though, so probably requested he do this now.

I suppose he'll be absent from the open top bus tour? What a thing to miss out on after 20 years at the club. Unbelievable really.

He had to announce he was leaving at some point if he wanted a goodbye which presumably he did (not sure if his view will have changed since the weekend). I think he will go on the bus tour but not sure how much he will enjoy it, which having not got to do one for the last league title is a shame for him, but like many of us I imagine I am finding it hard to have much sympathy for him...

On the other hand, these games are dead rubbers. Slot wants to give Bradley game time without playing for 90+ mins. Who better to bring on in a dead rubber than a good player who can get injured without any negative consequences for the club?

He has done what he has done and imo shouldn't be played again, he can say his goodbyes on the walk around when we pick up the cup. We've won the league, we don't need him, we lose at 80 to 100m player on a free which is ridiculous and we need to replace him aswell.

Im in Malta so was watching on a **** screen, did Trent play Merino onside for their goal?

Leaving today, stayed in St Julians, Cavalieri Art Hotel, was fine only booked it randomly at the last minute. Can't believe the carnage nightlife here just didn't expect it to be like ****ing Ibiza

Went to Sliema and Valletta too which were very nice.

That's just not true

He's spent 20 years at the club and has played an integral part in all of our recent success.

He's fully entitled to say his goodbyes on the pitch after the final game of the season

I think he is entitled to that as well and I think that he will get it, he will play some part in the final (home) game of the season and I hope/expect the reaction to be better in that game now the fans have got the frustrations out of their system.

The problem is that this has undoubtedly destroyed his legacy, I suspect that for the moment his reputation with the fans is destroyed even those who didn't boo are unlikely to forgive or forget, even if he didn't expect the booing he must have known that. He is probably about the right age as a LFC fan to have seen the reaction to Michael Owen leaving, and if not the reaction he (Owen) has received since then. I don't believe he can be naive enough to have grown up, supporting the club and living in the City to not know that doing something like this destroys his relationship with the fans, if not the club and that would make it difficult to return even after retirement.
