We're not city, we have to generate our own funds to survive. We sign players and make them better, we develop players and when they move on we get good fees to reinvest into the squad and that's how we compete in a totally uneven market. He has ****ed the club over for his personal financial gain. You might think that's fine and it's entitled to do it, from the outside perspective people can judge the situation like that, but inside the fan base, that perspective understandably doesn't wash. Ultimately, there's a good chance that it damages the team and it's prospects.

Another perspective we could take: I mean in context of most of the younger generation these days, compared to i assume most of us on this forumn, these players are of a generation of tik tok, youtube etc. (you know where most of their attention life span is like 2 minutes max), perhaps instead of this 'percieved' ideal of staying at the club for life out of loyalty etc., they perhaps are always looking for the next thing and the next, next thing, like stepping stones (more so than the older generation) rather than stick with the mantra of 1 and done for life, such is the norm these days ...
Hence go easy on Trent, he's done what he's done for us (and overall, don't you think he's actually made us more happy than not? Put it into perspective).. let him make that choice and live with it, can't begrudge him of that...

IF he did have gone to city though, i too like Bob, would have been really pissed and really disappointed with him (from a honor and moral standpoint), not so much if he did go for the money, but to go to a tarnished (legally implicated) club that is under the microscope over the years for what they are doing to the game...

Don't think people quite get that its winding your contract down so you can leave on a free is what has pissed people off the most.
