    This.

Agreed, but maybe he want to experience another country - I think he's made it clear he wouldn't sign a new contract, I really don't think its about money.
I make no apologies, this is me

If he goes (so hard not to turn three words into an Ivan Drago parody ) , then it will, imo, be 100% down to the player.

If he has it in his head that he wants to play elsewhere and he feels he has done enough with his home town team, then very little can be done about that.

Best we (and he) can hope for if that is the case if that he comes out early and says it so all speculation ends, and then he and the team go on to have a storming season so that the team does well and he gives a proper send off to the club and supporters and in turn the way he goes gets him a proper send off back.

Now if he decides to stay, that would be fantastic. Said it in other posts but he could win a fraction of the silverware with us than he could at Real but would finish his career a complete and utter legend for life and most likely after he has shuffled off this mortal coil.

He goes to Real and wins twice as many trophies, well he was just part of a winning team and will not be seen as one of their greats in Madrid like he would be in Liverpool.

Whichever path he takes he continues being a multi millionaire and will be set financially for many lifetimes, but one path comes with legacy and the glory that comes with that legacy. Course this is being said as one who is a supporter and not having to deal with thevery real (pun intended) temptation of extra millions on top of "normal" millions.

Be nice if he showed the fans a bit of respect by saying this.

& didn't do TV interviews about the second phase of his career while on international duty.

It’s a shame if that’s what he wants, I really don’t think he will make it there, may last a couple of years then he will be out the door for the next best RB and will undoubtedly regret it. Still think he will extend his contract here though.

                He's 100% gone imo.

It would be a little bit rude for him to sign the pre-contract agreement on 1 January, but I would image that everything is informally agreed with Madrid already.
                Oh I don't know.

Hopefully he has the good grace to say it's just what he wants to do and does not go through a charade that club wouldn't pay him a fair market value or give him assurances of the style of play or his position in the squad.

Think if he is moving and has discussed it with Real already, then Real will want him putting pen to paper with a pre contract in January.

In that case I expect a statement from TAA just before the precontract bit goes public about how he will not be signing a contract extension and that he is leaving because of nasty comments said about him on EST1892.

                      Maybe, maybe not.

Everyone knew that Mbappe was going to Madrid last year but it wasn't announced until the season was almost over. Instead everyone just pretended that nothing was decided.

He may envisage himself as a right or centre midfielder but Slot is playing him as a right back and the overall team are benefiting
