we're not a selling club. we used to be, but now that we are one of the biggest names in europe, there will be players we held onto for their best years and not get what we could for them. that's how teams at the very top do it, and that's us now.
this is about sadio, not the ox obv. we might listen to silly money offers for our best players before we're done with them, but we also might not. and also, there may not be bids coming in. i think we probably let mane go at the right time. maybe one season earlier, but we didn't have replacements for him yet.dave of mutilation

But our model is based on spend what you make - if we can’t spend when we qualify for CL and can’t spend when we do (wage increases and bonuses) then we must sell smart. We used to do it under Edwards, now we seem to let players leave on frees or extend players who are past their peakOriginally posted by little dave hedgehog View Postwe're not a selling club. we used to be, but now that we are one of the biggest names in europe, there will be players we held onto for their best years and not get what we could for them. that's how teams at the very top do it, and that's us now.

this is why there are lots of other/new revenue streams. i would hope that we can weather a season or two out of the CL, especially with higher capacity going into next season. i don't think it's "sell to buy" specifically, but we can top up our transfer kitty that way.Originally posted by Irishnev View PostBut our model is based on spend what you make - if we can’t spend when we qualify for CL and can’t spend when we do (wage increases and bonuses) then we must sell smart. That extra 6k seats will earn us around 10m a year……. It won’t get us CaicedoOriginally posted by little dave hedgehog View Postthis is why there are lots of other/new revenue streams. i would hope that we can weather a season or two out of the CL, especially with higher capacity going into next season. i don't think it's "sell to buy" specifically, but we can top up our transfer kitty that way.

I know what you mean but at the same time im not sure anyone would have bought him either.Originally posted by danperkins View PostHe was a terrible value for money signing. We are too sentimental as a fanbase sometimes & we absolutely hung on to him and Keita 2 seasons too long. Time to be ruthless, good luck Ox you are somebody else's problem now.

If we wanted to terminate their contracts we would still have had to pay them off for the duration of those contracts, so would have cost the same, just this way it was spread over more years than having to be paid out in lump sums.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Not quite. If we terminated the contract without their agreement we would have to compensate them so they didn’t lose out financially, so if they signed for another club on lower wages, we’d be responsible for the differential between their contract with us and their new one. If they retired or didn’t find a new contract elsewhere during our contract period, we’d have to pay them fully. And all of that only applies if there is no lump sum compensation amount specified in the players contract, which FIFA encourages, and only the club and player will know what that is. (FIFA code article 17 covers it).Last edited by Kenneth; 23-05-23, 11:27 AM.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years
