Fantastic news.......Just get back to a playing level, but if he can get back to the form he was producing, what a bonus that would be for next season.

A bizarre clause in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's contract at Arsenal has been revealed, that meant Southampton had to be paid £10,000 every time he played more than 20 minutes.

The England international spent six years at the Emirates Stadium under Arsene Wenger before moving to Liverpool in August 2017.

And it appears his lack of consistent game time in north London may have been down to contractual reasons, instead of tactical.

A new book by Alan Gernon, The Transfer Market: The Inside Stories, notes that the midfielder was 'predominantly used as a substitute, often around the 71-minute mark'.

And there is a reason behind that. A section adds: 'Following Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's move to Arsenal in 2011, Gunners fans became increasingly frustrated with the midfielder's lack of playing time.

'After his contract details emerged, it all became clear: Arsenal were obliged to pay Southampton £10,000 every time he played 20 minutes or more.'

The 25-year-old eventually left the club last year in a bid to further his development

It seems an odd clause to keep in long term, but £10k a game is peanuts to a club like Arsenal if he makes 50 appearances a season that's only an extra half a million quid. Surely that's not enough to stop you playing him
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Aye, definitely sounds a bit far fetched.

Klopp, said in press conference that Ox is ahead of schedule. He had no reaction to being out on the pitch. He said he might be back in full training late feb/march

Would be great to have him back for CL final.

I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I really hope he'll be the same Ox pre injury or something close.

If he is, I don't think it will be this season we'll find out...he needs time to get the match sharpness back, but just having him back in the squad will be such a boost to all, fans and players alike.
