I think they are ultra careful with that injury and overkill the recovery time because if you breakdown during the recovery chances are you have to have the op again and its a long long road backOriginally posted by Sus View PostPart of the comeback this season will be mental as well, surely. Testing his knee in those first few tackles, and seeing it hold up. I imagine that would take a while for anyone to get past, no matter how positive your mentality.Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. As I said above they will overkill the recovery because the last thing they want is him to breakdownOriginally posted by Buzzo View PostHe doesn’t look miles away from fitness based on that..?
I think hes ahead of schedule but I suspect not as far ahead as some believeBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Why? Its a hell of a aim for him. Get fit and get some minutes in a potential title winning season.
Imagine how he would feel if he worked his nuts off all year, for Klopp to say "Yeah there is 6 weeks left of the season, but rest up and get ready for LA Galaxy in the summer"
Would be extremely demoralising. Even if its a few 10-20 minute sub appearances. He needs to play if he is fit. Plus, hes ****ing brilliant. So will add a bit to our Midfield.*Except Michael, who died.

This. If he is fit and ready, he is fit and ready. The medical team and Klopp will not allow him to play unless he is fitOriginally posted by Alex View PostWhy? Its a hell of a aim for him. Get fit and get some minutes in a potential title winning season.

Is it though? No guarantees he won't breakdown next year or get hit by a bus. This season could be a once in a lifetime chance to be part of a historic event, so if there is a chance he will be fit, I'm not sure how he will feel it's in his interest to postpone his return as a precaution.Originally posted by ntto View Posthe should just postpone any thought of a come back and start fresh again in preseason.
more chance of a better recovery and removes all sentiment from any decision. Best for player and best for club
I get the point you are making, but it's a lot easier for you or me to see it that way, totally different for the person involved. If I was in his position, I know what I would be doing. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

And if he breaks down the first thing we will hear is he should have been rested more and eased back inOriginally posted by Alex View PostWhy? Its a hell of a aim for him. Get fit and get some minutes in a potential title winning season.

History should tell us this is an injury that you need to be over cautious on
I would rather wrap him in cotton wool than in anyway run any kind of risk of him doing it againBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

He will be taking the advice off the people in the medical teams close to himOriginally posted by RedReet View PostIf I was in his position, I know what I would be doing.
It looks like hes ahead of schedule and even Klopp has said this but I am not sure they will push him or allow him to push himself too muchBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

In all fairness Leccy, the medical staff are better qualified than all of us. It will be ultimatley them who give the green or the red lightOriginally posted by Lecter View PostAnd if he breaks down the first thing we will hear is he should have been rested more and eased back in

I reckon that outlook is becoming a bit old-fashioned and out-dated now Lecter. I think sports science has moved on from that. He looks so fit already. They will have a million metrics on all aspect of his fitness. They know he's close and they've no need to rush him.Originally posted by Lecter View PostAnd if he breaks down the first thing we will hear is he should have been rested more and eased back in

The way they have publicised that he'll be back in full training before the end of Feb shows how confident they are.
Assuming there's no more setbacks I'd expect him to play about 10 games before the end of the season, which will be a massive boost before the run-in.

So at the end of Feb, I think we have 10 league games remaining. I think 10’is optimistic. But certainly we should have him for at least the last 5 (based on nothing but optimism)Originally posted by Pablo View PostI reckon that outlook is becoming a bit old-fashioned and out-dated now Lecter.
