I think he's better at centre back. His reading of the game is superb.

Yeah, he's taking the piss. Making it look easy no matter who they choose to play next to him. I think he has played with Matip, Virgil, Gomez, Phillips, Williams, Hendo and Koumetio at the back this season and we are only 13 games in.

He is immense in midfield, but I think he is better at the back also.

It’s so crucial to our game that we have calm players who can read the play and pass the ball from the back.

It really is. He has that wonderful habit of making it look simple that all great readers of the game have.

He also seems to have a very calming/encouraging influence on the player that plays beside him at the back, especially the CBs that are further down our pecking order.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Being that but further back he has more time to see the approach play and work out where to be to best cut out and intercept.
He is imperious but often without breaking a sweat, doesn't have to run around too often to recover position, reminds me of Hansen.

Yeah good point Baitman. I think being further back allows him to read the play better and he has the few yards of ground to see things developing while in midfield, he would probably take more of a chance.

He really is a Rolls Royce player. Long may he stay fit & well.

Made such a difference with his super snappy passing and movement in midfield.

He's been excellent in defence but he's desperately needed in midfield.

I feel more confident that we'll start to turn a corner with him there.

Yeah, the damage has been done really hasn’t it. It was fine having him at the back when Hendo was fit and we had Matip. But since Matip has gone and Hendo and we’ve been left with no senior centre backs and no midfield bite, well, we’ve been really poor.

We need someone who is imposing on midfield. No Hendo and no Fab and our midfield looks really weak. I think there were signs yesterday that things could get better. Having him play in midfield is a crucial part of us resurrecting this season.

I thought the entire team seemed to get a confidence boost when he was in midfield

Lets hope that we have the confidence to play him in midfield, and put some trust in a Philips/Kabak partnership, but I have a feeling he might be back in defence for the next match, just as an insurance policy.

Yeah he'll definitely start at CB vs Leipzig imo. Instant different in midfield if only for that few minutes, that bite into tackles that we've been missing.
