I think it would be mistake for us to rest of our laurels and not add to the squad. We are going to see several departures in the summer anyways imo so we won't be out of pocket for long.

So where does that leave young emerging talent like Tyler Morton? I honestly can not see us buying a ready to play midfielder in January. You could make a case for a striker if we’re losing 2 of our star strikers to AFCON but even that would be difficult.

Morton is a kid who will be bedded in over the next few years. There is something clear and obvious and that is when Fabinho is not in the team, we simply do not have a player in the squad of the same mound. It has an knock on effect for the defence who don't have the same standard of cover and it also effects the other midfielders who one of, will have to try do Fab's job and aren't capable because they don't have the same skillset.

Another CM is priority in the Jan market imo, i'd even go as far as to say another attacking midfielder be nice too and could help us when the lads go to the AFCON and obviously after that too. Nothing wrong with more goals from midfield.

Elliot had a horrific in injury and we may not see the best of him until next season (He's also a kid), Milner is coming to his end and games have to be managed, Hendo/Ox/Keita (AFCON) are all injury prone and Morton is a kid. IMO not getting in another midfielder is a mistake. Just my opinion

If we are desperate we can play Minamino, Morton or Neco Williams in there, the issue would be the lack of cover at DMC.

Exactly. We’re not City or Chelsea who have ready made replacements for every position in the squad warming the bench week in week out. If Fab misses a match or two one of the other lads will slip in to cover. That’s how it is in the real world.

I would argue that we need someone more specialised to step in as I dont think Hendo plays particularly well in that position

But who is going to be good enough to step in ahead of Henderson or Milner......but also be happy to be on the bench for 85% of the games???

Similar to Robbo or Trent...... who is going to join LFC knowing that they will only play if there are injuries or suspensions. The answer is not many so we are going to have to find a Tsimikas type player and make better or develop a Neco Williams type player from within the youth ranks.....
